A Carson City man faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly swinging a machete in a dispute with his brother and another man over a vehicle.
Jesus Guardron-Patino was jailed May 14 after being arrested at 9:25 p.m. in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area after a report called in of a man hitting the ground and a brick building with a sword. Officers detained Guardron-Patino and made contact with two men, one of whom is the brother of Guardron-Patino.
The two men explained that Guardron-Patino had been drinking and was upset over the condition of a loaned Jeep Cherokee. The suspect took the machete and began to swing it and then hit the ground and building with it to scare the men, the arrest report states. The brother declined to provide a written statement because, he said, it is his brother. The man who was also threatened did provide a statement.
At jail Guardron-Patino was given a preliminary breath test, resulting in a .196. It is noted in the arrest report that he had a confirmed warrant out of Sparks Municipal Court for failing to comply with attending a victim impact panel. Bail: $21,000.

A 60-year-old Reno man was arrested May 15, 5:30 p.m. at a motel in the 2700 block of South Carson Street on a contempt of court warrant out of Washoe County.
— A 35-year-old transient was arrested May 15, 9:35 p.m. at Rand and Long streets. Police were called to the location after receiving information about a domestic dispute. He was on probation with a "no alcohol" clause as part of his condition. He blew a preliminary breath test of .303. Bail: $3,000.
— A 25-year-old Minden woman was arrested May 15, 2:22 a.m. near the intersection of Division and King streets. She faces a charge of DUI. Bail: $1,239.
— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 15, 12:13 a.m. at Van Epps and Orovada and faces charges of petit larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to the arrest report the man was out of gas and persuaded a 15-year-old friend to help him steal gas from other vehicles. Bail: $989.
— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested May 14, 11:01 p.m. at the intersection of William and Oxoby streets. He faces misdemeanor charges of DUI, failure to maintain and single lane and having no valid insurance. Officers stopped the vehicle after observing it drifting onto the shoulder of the road. Bail: $1,946.
— A 21-year-old Dayton woman faces a charge of being in contempt of court. She was arrested on May 14, 11:29 a.m. at William and Humboldt streets. Officers stopped her for making an unlawful u-turn. A background check showed she had a warrant for her arrest for failure to pay fines. Bail: $210.
— A 58-year-old Dayton woman was arrested May 14, 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of Roop and Winnie Lane. She faces misdemeanor charges of DUI, failure to maintain lane. A preliminary breath test showed a .264. Bail: $1,311.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
