Several domestic battery, DUI arrests made prior to New Year's holiday period

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies dealt with a number of misdemeanor-related crimes in the days leading up to the New Year's holiday period, with several arrests made for domestic abuse, fighting and driving under the influence. Here are some of those arrests:

A 24-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor charge of battery that constitutes domestic violence after he was arrested in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive on Dec. 28 at 12:27 a.m.

Authorities were called to the address on a report of a domestic battery. On the scene authorities made contact with a man and his wife, which the couple had been separated for about 10 months, the report states.

The man, who had been drinking, said he went to the home to talk with his wife about her seeing other men. He told authorities he took the woman's cell phone away from her to see who she had been talking to. He further stated that his wife came to him attempting to get her phone back and that is when he pushed her away and caused her to fall onto a couch, the report states.

The wife stated the man came over to the house and accused her of kissing another man. She said her husband grabbed the phone and pushed her, and then punched a wall, and then grabbed her by the neck and threw her on the ground and then slapped the left side of her face, the arrest report states.

He was arrested and booked on a charge of domestic battery first offense. A preliminary breath test was taken where he blew a .127, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,000.

— A 30-year-old Markleeville man was arrested Dec. 30 at 4:53 a.m. and faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, failure to maintain lanes and no proof of insurance.

According to the arrest report officers responded to a report of a intoxicated driver in a Jeep Cherokee in the area of Stewart and Telegraph streets. Authorities located the Jeep driving eastbound on Highway 50 and conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of East William.

The driver appeared intoxicated and had slurred speech and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, the report states. the man admitted to drinking, saying that among his drinks of choice for the night were "Yager bombs,""shots""beers" and a "rum and coke," according to the arrest report.

A number of sobriety test were giving and the man failed each of them. A preliminary breath test resulted in a 0.179. He was taken to jail.

— A 21-year-old transient was arrested Dec. 30 at 9:28 p.m. in the 200 block of Winnie Lane on after a fight outside a local bar.
The man reportedly was causing problems with patrons after he was allowed to sit inside the bar because it was cold outside, according to the arrest report.
The bartender told the man to calm down or leave and the man became increasingly aggressive with patrons, the report states, and was ordered to leave.

The bartender then went to an adjacent business to speak with a clerk, asking him not to sell him any alcohol because the man was becoming belligerent. The man confronted the bartender outside, striking him with a closed fist. Other patrons helped the bartender bring the man to the ground as officers arrived.
The man provided a preliminary blood test of a .220.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after being arrested at 9:32 p.m. Dec. 30 at a College Parkway apartment.
Carson City sheriff's officers responded on a report of a domestic battery where a man reportedly threw a naked female out of the apartment and then threw her a robe, according to a the arrest report.

The woman told authorities that she and her husband were arguing over who was going to take their car in the morning. The woman wanted the vehicle because she needed to get food for their 2-year-old. The woman informed authorities that she had recently had appendix surgery and that her husband began pushing her in the living room area of the apartment. She told police that she could not defend herself and grabbed the first thing she saw — a glass candle and threw it at the floor near her husband to get him to stop, the arrest report states.

The woman told deputies that her husband then grabbed her, picked her up and threw her out of the front door of the apartment, the arrest report states.
The man was interviewed by authorities. he said that he and his wife were arguing over who was going to take the car in the morning and that's when she became mad and "violent" throwing the glass candle at his head, in which he was able to swat mid air, knocking it to the ground in which it broke on the floor. The man said he removed the woman from the home because she was being "so violent."

Neither the man or the woman had signs of injuries and neither would explain why 911 wasn't called when the incident happened, the arrest report states.

The arresting officer determined the man to be the primary aggressor and he was arrested and jailed without incident. Bail: $3,000.

— A 32-year-old transient woman faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and being an intoxicated pedestrian after she was arrested Dec. 30 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of College Parkway and Northgate.
According to the report the woman was seen in the area pounding on windows of vehicles that had stopped for her. Officers located the woman, who appeared troubled and exhibiting belligerent behavior.
Officers noted difficulty with the woman, who stated that she was not drunk, challenging them to give her a breath test and then refusing. She was taken to jail.

— Two Crescent City, Calif., men were arrested Dec. 30 at around 3 p.m. and face charges of misdemeanor larceny after attempting to steal an air rifle, a skateboard, jumper cables and a pair of boots from Wal-mart in the 3200 block of Market Street.
The men, ages, 19 and 20, were stopped by store security after they took the items and went to the exit the store. Both were taken to jail. Bail is $350 for each.

— A 48-year-old transient faces misdemeanor trespassing charges after being arrested Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. Authorities were dispatched to a casino in the 500 block of Carson Street. Security informed officers then man had been kicked out of the casino for 30 days and told not to return but did.
The man was told to leave and began to leave, but then turned around about a minute later, walked up to the the Carson City sheriff's deputy and a security guard and said to arrest him for trespassing. The casino asked the man be placed under citizens' arrest for trespassing. He was taken to jail and booked.

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested and faces battery and disorderly conduct charges after being arrested Dec. 30 at 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Carson Street.
According to the arrest report officers were dispatched to a bar on a report of several people fighting. Officers learned that a man inside started a fight with another patron. After a short verbal exchange the victim told the man to get out of his face. The 30-year-old then grabbed the patron by the face and a fight began with bar staff breaking it up.
The man continued to be belligerent after the fight and was screaming and swearing at other bar patrons and people on the street. He continued the behavior all the way to the patrol vehicle where he began to scream and kick the door of the vehicle. He was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct. Bail: $1,000.

Meanwhile a couple hours later officers arrested a 22-year-old Reno man at the same bar, on battery charges. According to the arrest report the bar was closing at 2 a.m. for the night and staff was using a strobe flashlight to move customers out of the bar. Bar staff said the 22-year-old man slapped the hand with the flashlight in it causing the light to fall the ground. The man was arrested. Bail: $1,000.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 6:39 p.m. Dec. 29 at Humboldt and William and faces a charge of contempt of a court order. According to the arrest report the man, who fit the description of the man being wanted on the contempt of court charge was seen walking and was stopped by police and identified as the man wanted. Bail: $3,000.

— A Carson City man faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after being arrested in the 3400 block of Highway 50 East on Dec. 29 at around 10:30 a.m. The man, who's age was not given, had apparently been in a fight with his adult brother. A witness said that the man had been drinking all night and was causing problems at the home. According to the arrest report the man woke his sleeping brother and told him to get a job and then punched him on the left side of his head. The two brothers wrestled each other to the ground until the police were called.
The man was placed under arrested and was agitated and began yelling at deputies. As he was leaving he told his brother and mother that they were "gonna get it" because he didn't do anything, the arrest report states.

While in the patrol car on the way to jail the man made several comments such as "do you have any evidence? No. Dismissed." Once at the jail he was given a PBT test which registered a .231, the arrest report states.

— A 26-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested and faces misdemeanor charges of battery, stalking and violation of a suspended sentence. He was arrested Dec. 28 in the 1800 block of North Edmonds at 8:52 p.m. Warrants for battery and stalking were issued for his arrested on Dec. 16 out of Justice Court in Carson City as was a bench warrant for failing to comply to conditions of a suspended sentence which included completing an intensive outpatient counseling, substance abuse counseling and a domestic violence evaluation, ordered on Oct. 8, 2012. Bail: $8,000.

— A 29-year-old Reno man was arrested Dec. 28, 6:38 a.m. and faces misdemeanor charges of driving on a revoked license for DUI and suspended registration.
The arrest report states the man was driving southbound in a Ford Mustang on Carson and Musser streets. He was stopped because a check on the plates showed a suspended registration. A computer check showed the man's license had been revoked for DUI. Bail: $1,000.
