A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday at a Furgerson Ranch Road residence on suspicion of domestic battery third offense after allegedly placing his hands over the victim’s mouth and causing her nose to bleed, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Thomas Paul Meader was taken into custody at 3:04 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the home and spoke with the victim who had blood on her nose and right hand. She explained the couple is in the process of ending their relationship and said she asked Meader to leave but that he refused.
The victim said she began to yell at the man and that he placed his hands over her mouth in an attempt to keep her quiet, the arrest report states. The victim stated she told the suspect not to touch her but he continued. She advised her nose began to bleed because he put too much pressure over her mouth.
A deputy asked the woman if she thought Meader was trying to hurt her. She said she did not believe he was. After speaking with the victim, a deputy spoke with Meader. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He told the officer a similar story the victim gave, the arrest report states. The officer explained he was under arrest for suspicion of domestic battery because the woman told him to stop touching her and he refused. The man stated he understood. Bail: $15,137.
In other arrests: A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:48 p.m. in the 4100 block of East Nye Lane on suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, the man hit a power pole with Ford Ranger. A witness identified the driver. He had a heavy odor of alcohol and vomit on the front of his shirt and face, the arrest report states.
The suspect was asked if he had been drinking in which he told the officer that he had not and that the officer was making things up. He also denied getting into the accident. The man was asked to do a series of field sobriety tests but he did not respond. He was taken to jail and had a blood draw. Bail: $1,137.
— A 25-year-old Carson City man, Jacob Martin Madden, was arrested Sunday, 9:51 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor obstructing and violation of pre-trial supervision. Bail: $5,912.
— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 6:51 p.m. in the 300 block of Agate Drive on suspicion of two counts domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the woman had been drinking and got into an argument over family issues. She allegedly punched her mother’s boyfriend in the face with a closed fist and scratched and slapped her mother. Bail: $6,274.
— A 24-year-old Reno man was booked Sunday into Carson City jail on a warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Aug. 31, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. The man turned himself into jail deputies, stating he had failed to update his address to his probation officer and believed he had a warrant for his arrest. A warrant was confirmed. The man was cooperative and claimed that he wanted to clear up his warrant so that he could start a clean slate with his life, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,000.
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 1:29 a.m. in the area of Fairview south of Fifth Street on suspicion of DUI and speeding. According to the arrest report, a deputy was going south on Fairview Drive when he observed a vehicle on radar going 56 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who had an odor of alcohol on her breath. She said she had two drinks at a friend’s house, the arrest report states.
The woman was asked if she would submit to field sobriety tests to determine if she was driving under the influence. She showed signs of impairment and took a preliminary breath test with a result of over .08, the arrest report states. Bail: $1,249.
— A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 6:05 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway on a misdemeanor charge of battery. The woman was a patient in the hospital and became combative with the doctor and nurse, striking the doctor in the upper chest area. Bail: $1,137.
