A Carson City man was jailed early Tuesday morning following a domestic battery in which he allegedly prevented the victim from reporting the crime.
Amalio Pedro Montanes, 25, was arrested in the 3300 block of Pontius Place at 1:26 a.m. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence on a welfare check after dispatch received a call from a woman who gave an address and then disconnected.
Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated she was upset with her boyfriend, identified a Montanes. The victim said he had come home drunk and wanted him to leave.
Officers met with Montanes and asked him to step outside to speak. The man stated he and his girlfriend had been arguing. He stated he had been drinking alcohol so he did not want to drive and leave the home. Officers asked the man if they had become physically violent with each other. The man initially told the officer that he had not but then admitted that he had grabbed the woman's face and squeezed, according to the arrest report.
Deputies spoke with the victim who said that she attempted to call 911 and that Montanes took the phone from her hand, disconnected it, then grabbed her by the throat and pushed her down. Officers asked the man if he had taken the phone away from the woman and Montanes replied: "Yes I did, is that a problem?"
He was taken to jail without incident. He faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and a felony charge of preventing a victim from reporting a crime. Bail $8,137.
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 29 and faces a felony charge of being in violation of probation. Lindsie Newman, was arrested at Walmart on Market Street for shoplifting. She allegedly took items off the shelf and went to the customer service counter where she returned them and got cash back.
Newman is on probation with Nevada Parole and Probation. Officers contacted her probation officer who instructed Carson City authorities to place her into custody. Bail: $320 for the petit larceny charge and a no bail hold for probation violation.

— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was booked into the Carson City Jail on July 29, 4:05 p.m. on a warrant, failure to report for monthly probation check in. Bail $3,000.
— A 52-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 27 and faces a charge of DUI. She was arrested at 1:15 a.m. at Airport and Carmine. She was stopped for failure to maintain a lane. Bail: $1,137.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of Carson Street on July 27 at 1:43 a.m. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct. The man was kicked out of a bar and returned. Bail: $242.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 27, 3:27 a.m. at Table Rock Drive and New Ridge Drive. He faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal contempt. The arrest came after a vehicle stop in which the driver didn't stop at the stop sign. The man had a warrant for his arrest, failure to appear. Bail $250.
— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 26, 7:32 p.m. at the intersection of Brown and Reeves. The man was arrested on a warrant, failure to provide proof of counseling. Bail: $500.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was booked into Carson City jail on July 26, 11:45 a.m. on a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $3,000.
— A 41-year-old transient was arrested in the 3700 block of Emerson Drive, July 27, 10:22 p.m. He faces a charge of disorderly conduct. The man had said he was bitten by a rattlesnake. However it appeared to authorities that the man was under the influence of drugs and there wasn't a bite wound. The man began yelling and cursing at police officers. He was asked to stop because he was scaring his neighbors.
Authorities later observed the man attempting to sleep on a sidewalk and turn on water from a faucet where he took a drink from it. He was taken to jail for disorderly conduct. Bail: $237.
— A Carson City woman was arrested July 27 in the 2000 block of College Parkway. She faces misdemeanor charges of falsely reporting a crime and being in violation of her probation. Bail: $4,637.
— A 38-year-old Reno man was arrested July 28, 7:39 p.m. and faces charges of driving on a suspended registration, no proof of insurance and criminal contempt (warrant.) He was stopped on the Carson City freeway after his plates came back suspended. Bail: $1,849.
— A 52-year-old transient was arrested July 26, 8:29 a.m. at Highway 50 and Deer Run Road. Michael Gene Klein faces a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice, and misdemeanor charges of driving while using a cell phone, not having a valid driver's license, no proof of insurance and expired plates. Bail: $1,113 for the misdemeanor, and a no-bail hold for the felony charge.
— A 33-year-old Carson City woman faces a gross misdemeanor charge of being in possession of a dangerous weapon. She was arrested July 26, 1:43 a.m. in the 100 block of West Nye Lane. The woman was found on Nevada Highway Patrol property with a gas can, a syphon hose and a pair of metal knuckles. She told officers she had intended to syphon gas because she didn't have gas money. The woman said she had the brass knuckles for protection. Bail: $2,500.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 26, 1:51 a.m. at North Lompa Lane and Highway 50 East. She faces a charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. Bail. $3,000.
— A 32-year-old transient was arrested July 25, 6:13 p.m. at Highway 50 East and Fairview. He faces misdemeanor charges of failure to pay fines and failure to appear in court. He was stopped initially for failure to use turn signals. Bail: $1,249.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 25, 7:52 p.m. in the 200 block of Fleishman Way. He faces a charge of being in violation of an extended protection order.
Those arrested and facing charge are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
