A 27-year-old Carson City woman, wanted on a felony warrant, was arrested early Sunday after giving officers the name of her roommate and then running from them early Sunday morning in the area of William and Rand streets, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Kayla Lynn Olson was caught near Long Street and Wendy Lane at 1:12 a.m. after having jumped over fences in a foot pursuit with deputies, according to the arrest report. The woman was contacted after having crossed William Street with two others.

She was asked to identify herself. She gave officers a name and told them she did not know her Social Security number but that she was born in California. The officers asked the woman what her Social Security number begins with. The woman replied with a number, which, the arresting officer notes, does not apply to those born in California.

The officer told the woman she was being detained for questioning. And that is when she took off running, subsequently being caught. Officers then read Olson her Miranda rights and she agreed to speak. She said she gave them the name of her roommate instead of her own.

She faces two felony charges of parole and probation violation and a warrant out of Washoe County for providing false identification, issued April 22, 2014, and a felony for providing Carson City sheriff’s deputies with false information. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest after fleeing the scene. She is being held without bail on the parole and probation violation charge pending a hearing. Bail for the local charges: $20,337.
