A 36-year-old Fallon man died Tuesday morning in an crash involving a farm tractor and a car on Highway 50 east of Fallon. Justin M. Edgemon died at the scene of the accident reported shortly before 6 a.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Preliminary investigation details indicate a 56-year-old Fallon man was driving a green John Deere 6140D farm tractor pulling a hay trailer was traveling eastbound on HIghway 50. Edgemon was also traveling eastbound on US50 and failed to slow his 2012 Blue Ford Focus, colliding with the rear of the hay trailer, said NHP Trooper David Gibson.
The Ford Focus came to rest on the eastbound lane of Highway 50. The John Deere tractor came to rest on the dirt shoulder the westbound lane, facing east. Edgemon sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the tractor was not injured. It is unknown if alcohol is a factor at this time, said Trooper Gibson.
Both travel lanes of Highway 50 were closed temporarily for several hours while troopers completed their on-scene portion of the investigation. Nevada Department of Transportation assisted our agency with the road closure and rerouted traffic onto Crook Road and Wildes Road via Sheckler Road.
