Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest three in separate DUI incidents

A Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning in 1500 block Sharon Drive on a felony parole and probation charge after admitting that he had smoked methamphetamine, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arrested was Galvin Knight. He was taken to jail and is being held without bail pending a hearing through state parole and probation. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the Sharon Drive residence to assist paramedics on a medical call.

Knight told the medical crew on scene that he had last smoked methamphetamine about an hour prior, showing signs of grinding his teeth and mumbling words. The man told paramedics he was having a bad reaction to meth but declined to go to the hospital. Vital signs were checked and he was determined to be OK, the arrest report states. Dispatch advised Gavin was on State Parole and Probation with conditions not to use drugs. He was arrested based on the violation.

In other arrests:
— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday, 12:25 a.m. in the 3200 block of Kitchen Drive on a misdemeanor warrant for domestic battery, issued Dec. 5, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:17 p.m. in the area of College Parkway and Imperial on suspicion of DUI, following too close and having no proof of insurance. According to the arrest report, officers respond to the area following a two-vehicle accident and made contact with the driver allegedly at fault, according to the arrest report.

While speaking, the officer observed an odor of alcohol coming from the man. He also had red, watery eyes and thick, slurred speech. The officer asked the man if he had any alcohol beverages and the man replied “no,” the arrest report states.

The officer asked the man if he would be willing to perform Standardized Field Sobriety tests, and the man agreed. He showed clues of impairment in different tests and declined to do the one leg stand, the arrest report states.

The man was asked if he would provide a preliminary breath sample, and he agreed but refused four different times to follow instructions, the arrest report states. He was taken to jail where a telephonic warrant was obtained to obtain a blood test. Bail: $2,021.

— A 42-year-old Minden man was arrested Monday, 6:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of East William Street on suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area regarding a driver under the influence. The driver said he had consumed a Club brand 6-ounce Long Island ice tea at his home and a second one at a gas station in Indian Hills, the arrest report states. The man agreed to participate in field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test with a .089 and breath tests at the jail measuring .083 ad .079. Bail: $1,137.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 2:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairview Drive on suspicion of DUI. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area regarding a man passed out in his vehicle. Dispatch said the reporting witness noted the man was breathing but unresponsive.

Officers approached the vehicle, which was running, and knocked on the window several times. The officer then opened the driver side door and could smell a moderate odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The officer announced his presence and tapped the man on the shoulder, getting no response, the arrest report states.

The officer then shook the man by the shoulder several time and he became responsive. He appeared to be confused and unaware of what was going on, the arrest report states. The officer asked the man if he was OK, and the man replied he was.

The man thanked the officer and then tried to put the vehicle in gear. The officer told the man not to move the vehicle and to turn off the engine. The man complied with instructions. The officer asked the man to step out of the vehicle and asked him to do a series of Standardized Field Sobriety tests. The man was unable to do them as demonstrated. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a partial result of .208. He was taken to jail where he gave consent to submit to a blood draw. Bail: $1,137.

— A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 3:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Longridge on a warrant for contempt of court issued July 11, 2013. Bail: $500.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
