A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 18, 1:31 a.m. in the area of North Carson and East Park Street. He faces a felony charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of DUI.
According to the arrest report, an officer doing routine patrol on North Carson Street at Hot Springs Road observed a silver in color Dodge Durango without a license plate. The officer turned on his overhead emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at North Carson Street and East Park Street.
Upon contact with the driver, Brogan Austin Cain, officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol from his breath, the arrest report states. The officer asked if he had been drinking which he stated he had. The officer further observed two small children, ages 5 and 7, in the backseat of the vehicle in car seats. The officer asked him to step out of the vehicle and the man complied. The officer then asked Cain if he would submit to standardized field sobriety tests to which he stated he would, according to the arrest report.
Cain showed signs of impairment on all tests, the report states. The officer asked Cain if he would submit to a preliminary breath test in which he said he would. Cain was able to give one breath sample with a result of above .08. He was placed under arrest and transported to Carson City Jail. Upon arrival officers read Cain the Nevada Implied Consent which he stated he understood and chose a blood test.
The children were released to the mother. Bail $3,637.
In other felony arrests:
A 20-year-old Silver Springs woman, Kasey Dawn Harger, was arrested Jan. 18, 9:40 p.m. at Carson and Robinson streets. She faces a felony charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.
According to the arrest report, an officer was parked at the 2800 block of south Carson Street running a radar. He observed a brown 4 door vehicle traveling north on Carson at a a high rate of speed. the officer visually estimated the speed at around 50 in a 25 mph. The officer activated his front radar and confirmed the speed at 48 mph, the arrest report states.
The officer caught up with the vehicle at Carson and Telegraph and activated his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle stopped. The officer spoke with the female driver, Harger, who gave him the name which was checked through dispatch and came up without a match. The officer walked back to the vehicle and told the woman he needed her real name and date of birth. This time she told the officer her correct name, the report states.
The officer checked with the correct name and she returned with a confirmed warrant out of Reno Municipal Court for violation of a suspended sentence with a no bail hold attached.
The officer cited the woman for the speed and took her into custody for the warrant. While going through the woman's purse prior to it being taken to jail the deputy located a small clear plastic bag of marijuana and a multicolored glass pipe. She was taken to jail and booked on the warrant and possession of marijuana. Bail amount for the marijuana, $762.
— An inmate in Carson City Jail faces a charge of being in violation of a protection order. Cory Robert Campau, 19, was presented with the charge on Jan. 19. According to the arrest report, officers received a written statement form from a woman and a post card that was sent by Campau who is currently in custody.
On the statement the woman states Campau has a protection order against him from her daughter. The woman stated Campau had sent the post card to her address trying to make contact with the daughter, the arrest report states.
The officer confirmed through dispatch that Campau has a protection order served out of Long Beach, Calif. From Nov. 9, 2012 to Nov. 9, 2015. The officer spoke with Campau and advised him of his rights. He said he understood and signed an advisement rights form.
He stated he had known about the protection order. He stated he had been in contact with the daughter by phone and mail since being in custody at Carson City Jail, the arrest report states. The officer showed him the post card the daughter's mom provided. He said he had sent the post card in attempt to try to contact the woman and his son.
The man stated he had never received paper work about the protection order and was not sure how long it was active. He stated he went to court on Dec. 20, 2013, and was ordered by the judge not to make contact with the daughter or her mother. He stated he mailed the post card before the court date. He stated he had not had contact with the woman or the daughter since the court date.
The officer states he told Campau the protection order is valid through Nov. 9, 2015. The officer told the man since he had been trying to contact the daughter he was in violation of the protective order, a felony, and that he would be charged for that. Bail: $5,000.
In misdemeanor related arrests:
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 19, 8:37 a.m. in the area of East Nye Street at College Parkway. He faces misdemeanor charges of two counts possession of drug paraphernalia and two warrant failure to appear counts. $4,274.
— A 55-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Jan. 19, 9:43 a.m. near the intersection of Airport and Champion. She faces a misdemeanor charge of DUI.
Officers were dispatched to the area for a report of an accident involving a possible intoxicated driver. Officer met with the woman and found a truck that was off the road and stopped on the front lawn area of the 2000 block of Airport Road.
The woman told the officer she crashed because her two dogs jumped into her lap. She smelled slightly of alcohol and agreed to do field sobriety tests. She showed six clues with the tests but due to medical conditions was unable to do the physical portion, the arrest report states. She provided a preliminary breath test of .169. She was arrested for DUI and taken to jail. She was read her implied content and she advised she understood them and would do tests. She selected a breath test and provided two samples with .157 and .160. She was booked without incident. Bail: $1,132.
— A 26-year-old San Francisco man was arrested Jan. 19, 3:38 a.m. at 7th and Carson Street. He faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and open container. The man was stopped on suspicion of DUI. Officers observed an open container in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and several empty beer bottles on the passenger floorboard. He was asked if he had any alcohol to drink and he stated he had. He performed field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test with a result of 0.123. At jail he provided two breath samples with results of .128 and .126. Bail: $1,329.
— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 19, 4:21 a.m. in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive. He faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing officers, disorderly conduct, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and minor consuming. Bail: $1,533.
Those arrested and facing charge are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
