Two Wadsworth women have been charged in the Nov. 18 hit and run crash that killed a woman who was a pedestrian walking along the road on State Route 427 in Lyon County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Liann Christy, 21, has been charged with felony DUI causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Katrina E. Paddy, 22, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson on Monday.
Both Christy and Paddy were arrested on the felony charges and both will also be facing misdemeanor charges related to the fatal accident that killed Latasha Lee Woods, 28, of Wadsworth. Alcohol is a contributing factor in the cause of the fatal, said Gibson.
At 2:15 p.m., NHP troopers were called to the crash with a pedestrian accident that happened on State Route 427 in Lyon County about a half mile north of the Love’s gas station in Fernley.
The crash investigation details indicated a beige 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by Christy, along with passenger Paddy were traveling southbound on SR427 when it left the west paved roadway edge and struck and killed Woods, a pedestrian walking alongside the roadway.
After striking Woods, Liann Christy tried to flee the scene of the accident but became stuck in the sand. Katrina E. Paddy then took over driving the vehicle and got it unstuck and drove away from the scene until she was stopped by a Lyon County deputy, said Gibson.
