Here is this weekend’s arrest report from Friday through Sunday morning. Carson City sheriff’s deputies made numerous felony and misdemeanor arrests over this 2014 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
— A 22-year-old Carson City woman, Ashlee Nicole Karow, was arrested Friday, 4:04 p.m. in the 1400 block of Rand Avenue on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony warrant issued out of East Fork District Court, and two misdemeanors charges, obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report officers had been looking for Karow, wanted on a felony warrant. When contacted, she gave officers a different name other than hers, the arrest report states.
During a search of her belongings before she entered jail, officers found a small clear plastic box containing tin foil and a clear plastic jar that contained suspected heroin, as well as a glass pipe containing heroin residue and two broken pens with heroin residue, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,912.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Michael Hutchinson, was arrested Saturday, 1:05 a.m. in the 500 block of East Robinson Street on felony charges of violation of probation and a bench warrant, possession of a control substance, issued Nov. 3, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. According to the arrest report officers were called to the 500 block of North Carson Street regarding a fight.
Officers made contact with several subjects involved including Hutchinson, who took off running. He was located on East Robinson Street and arrested. He is being held in Carson City Jail without bail pending hearings on his warrant charges.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Jared Olan Smith, was booked into jail Friday, 11:20 p.m. on a felony warrant, failure to appear, issued May 21, 2014 out of First Judicial District Court. He is being held without bail awaiting a hearing.
In other arrests:
— A 40-year-old Stockton, Calif., man was arrested Friday, 1:30 p.m. at a Pine View Court address on a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer and misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a dispute involving a family member at the home. When officers attempted to talk with the man, he walked away and was observed pushing a victim in the kitchen. He was asked to stop by the officer. The man challenged the officer, attempting a fight, and then shoved the deputy into a counter top. The man was arrested. Bail: $5,874.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 12:29 p.m. in the 3400 block of Highway 50 East on two failure to appear traffic warrants issued Nov. 16 and Nov. 19, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $585.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:04 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pinoak Lane on a misdemeanor warrant charge, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Dec. 11, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:34 a.m. in the 3800 block of Highway 50 east on four misdemeanor warrants including a failure to appear warrant, driving on a suspended registration, having no vehicle insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license. Bail: $1,291.
— A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 8:19 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Nevada Street on a outstanding misdemeanor warrant issued out of Reno Municipal Court. She is awaiting extradition.
— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 12;26 a.m. in the 3700 block of Woodside Drive on failure to appear traffic warrants, issued in May and June 2013. Bail: $2,825.
— A 63-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 9:06 a.m. in the area of Gold Hill Drive on misdemeanor charges: Suspicion of driving under the influence, second offense, and driving with an expired license. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a grocery store regarding an intoxicated man who stumbled in and out of the store and then got into a vehicle and began driving. He was stopped and showed signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests and blew above a .08 breath test, the arrest report states. A criminal background check showed the man had a DUI conviction in 2009. Bail: $2,692.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man booked into jail Friday, 11:50 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant charge, violation of suspended sentence conditions, issued Nov. 12, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 25-year-old Oakland, Calif., man was arrested Friday, 11:30 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street on a warrant, failure to appear after admission to bail, issued Aug. 13, 2008, out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $1,112.
— A 31-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 9:09 p.m. in the area of Carson Street and Hot Springs Road on five misdemeanor charges, including suspicion of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, required turn signal, and disobeying a traffic control device. She also had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest issued Sept. 23, 2014 out of Reno Township Court. Officers stopped the woman after she allegedly failed to stop at a red light on College Parkway and North Carson Street and then, failed to use her right hand turn signal when turning southbound onto Carson Street.
Officers spoke with the woman, who appeared intoxicated and was asked if she would voluntarily submit to field sobriety tests. During the tests, the woman repeatedly said she was drunk, and then asked the officer he she was going to jail because she was drunk. She was taken to jail, providing breath samples of .140 and .138, according to the arrest report. While performing an inventory search, officers found a clear glass pipe and what appeared to be heroin residue, the arrest report states. Bail: $2,933.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:18 a.m. at Fifth and Harbin Street on five misdemeanor charges, including suspicion of DUI second offense, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and failure to maintain a single lane of traffic.
According to the arrest report, deputies observed the man cross over the yellow line in the traffic lane at Fifth Street near Stewart Street. Officers stopped the driver, the sole occupant, and informed him of the reason for the traffic stop. He told an officer he was sorry and that he just wanted to go home.
He also informed the officer that he doesn’t have a driver’s license, apologizing again, adding that he shouldn’t be driving. When he was asked why he did it, he told the officer he “f***ed up.” Officers observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, red watery eyes and dilated pupils. The officer also asked the man about the odor of marijuana on him. The man handed the officer a purple can of marijuana and a glass pipe. He told the officer they belonged to a friend. The officer asked the man if he had smoked marijuana recently. The man replied a couple days ago he had.
He submitted to four field sobriety tests, failing each one. He also showed a revoked status through DMV on his license with a DUI conviction on Nov. 7, 2012. He was taken to jail where he submitted to a blood test. Bail: $5,260.
— A 28-year-old Stockton, Calif., man was arrested Saturday, 4:45 p.m. in the area of West College Parkway after officers were called to a dispute at a sports bar. The suspect had left the scene and was picked up driving on West College Parkway. Officers observed the man had signs of being under the influence. He was asked how much he had to drink and the man replied one beer, two hours ago. He was asked to participate in standardized field sobriety tests to which he agreed. He showed signs of impairment on all tests and blew a breath test above. 08, the legal limit. At jail he gave breath samples of .167 and .169, the arrest report states. Bail: $1,137.
— Two men, men ages 29 and 25, were arrested Saturday, 3:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Koontz Lane on misdemeanor charges of larceny. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatch to Kohl’s in which loss prevention reported that they had chased two men who allegedly stole stereo speakers valued at $99 from inside the store. Officers caught up with the men. Bail: $352, each.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 12:13 p.m. in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive on misdemeanor charges of obstructing, defrauding an innkeeper and possession of marijuana.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to a laundromat in which a manager said the suspect had been doing laundry without paying by sticking his arm in the washing machine to use an override button that allows maintenance access. Officers also were given surveillance video that captured the alleged crime.
After the man left the scene, officers made contact with him. The man advised he knew he was washing his clothes without paying and apologized for his actions. The manager of the business signed a citizens arrest form charging the man with defrauding an innkeeper. During booking officers found a small baggie with around two grams of marijuana on him. Bail: $1,446.
