A 29-year-old Carson City man, who listed his occupation as a legislative assistant, was arrested early Sunday morning in the 800 block of South Saliman Road on misdemeanor charges of obstructing and delaying an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to the area after midnight for a report of a non-injury accident. On scene the officer made contact with the female driver, later arrested on suspicion of DUI, as well as the adult male passenger.
The 29-year-old passenger refused to allow the officer to conduct a DUI investigation, by repeatedly interrupting the officer and screaming at him, calling him a “white racist cop.” The deputy is Asian. The officer ordered the man to stop interrupting the investigation several times, and he was warned he would be arrested for obstructing and delaying a peace officer. The man refused, continued to be belligerent and the officer finally informed the man he was being arrested on those listed charges.
The man refused to turn around and place his hands behind his back. The officer was able to get handcuffs on him. Four witnesses provided statements regarding the incident. He was taken to jail where he submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .28. Bail: $1,006.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old Carson City woman, was arrested at 12:37 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of DUI. The woman told officers she had been drinking and agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. She showed signs of impairment on all tests and refused to complete a preliminary breath test, according to the arrest report.
She was taken to jail and told officers she would not consent to a blood or breath test. Officers contacted the district attorney’s office and then a judge who approved a search warrant to draw two vials of blood from the woman. Bail: $1,137.
In other arrests: A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 3:29 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of DUI. Officers stopped the woman after observing her drive over the center median while attempting to turn southbound onto Carson Street from Telegraph. Officers could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the woman and asked if she had been drinking.
The woman replied she had two drinks. She was asked if she would be willing to perform field sobriety tests in which she agreed and performed them unsatisfactorily, with two tests having to be stopped for the woman’s safety. She provided a preliminary breath test of a .141 on a partial blow. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:24 a.m. in the 4000 block of Combs Canyon Road on suspicion of failure to maintain a lane of traffic and DUI. According to the arrest report, officers observed the vehicle driving and onto the shoulder of the road and unable to maintain a travel lane.
The man told officers that he had one beer. He agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests in which he showed signs of impairment on several of the tests. The man refused a preliminary breath test. He was arrested and after being cuffed told officers he would give a breath test. On the way to the jail, the man urinated in the back of the patrol car after telling the officer he had to “take a piss.” He told officers at jail he wouldn’t participate in evidentiary tests and a judge was called and a search warrant granted that allowed for blood tests. Bail: $3,017.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 5:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of East Long Street on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and possession of marijuana. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a California Street address at around 5:25 a.m. where the victim identified the suspect.
Officers arrived and made contact with the victim and her two sons, ages 12 and 18, who witnessed the man grab, shake and push their mother up against the bedroom wall and then violently pushed her out of the bedroom and threw her to the living room floor. The victim had an injury to her lower right back area and pain to her right hand and wrist.
The woman told officers she had been recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The officer noted the woman appeared weak and moved very slow. The man denied he battered the woman. Based on the investigation and injuries officers arrested the man on suspicion of domestic battery. During the search, officers found a baggy of marijuana on the suspect. He was read his Miranda rights and declined to speak about the incident. Bail: $3,864. This case is under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
— A 22-year-old Reno man was booked Sunday into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 11, 2015 out of Sparks Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 11:26 a.m. in the 1800 block of Mountain Street on a warrant charge, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Feb. 24, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was booked Sunday, 1 p.m. into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear in traffic court, issued Feb. 4, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $740. Also a 1 p.m. a 24-year-old Bakersfield, Calif., woman was booked on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued April 13, 2012 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
