A 29-year-old man died and a 24-year-old woman was injured in a head-on vehicle crash early Monday in Fallon, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
NHP troopers were dispatched to State Route 116 at Churchill County Mile Marker 3 near Mesquite road in Fallon at 12:13 a.m. Preliminary investigation indicates that a Black 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound on SR116 for an unknown reason the Jetta crossed the centerline and entering the eastbound travel lane striking a 1997 Tan Chevrolet Suburban head on.
The driver of the 2007 Jetta, 29 and from Fallon, died from injuries. The driver of the Suburban, 24-year-old female from Schurz, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight.
The road was closed in both directions for approximately 5 hours. The name of the victim won’t be released until the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office positively confirms the identity and pending notification of next of kin.
