Two individuals and two servers were issued citations Saturday as part of efforts by the Carson City Sheriff's Office to stop the sale of alcohol to minors.
A "shoulder tap" operation was conducted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Saturday where individuals were asked by a person in decoy to purchase alcohol for him or her. The "decoy" informed those asked that he/she was underage and could not purchase the alcohol. The decoy was assisted by two Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies who oversaw the operation.
Of the 20 individuals asked to purchase alcohol, two agreed to do so and were issued citations accordingly, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
Also during this time, alcohol compliance checks were done at local establishments as well as the special events held in downtown Carson City.
Of the 15 establishments checked, the following failed the check by serving alcohol to minors:
— Carson Cruzers Event in the Carson Mall parking lot.
— Carson Lanes
Both servers at these establishments were issued citations for the violation.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office routinely conducts these checks with grant money received from the Nevada Juvenile Programs Justice Office.
