A Carson City man was arrested Monday on a felony home invasion charge after he allegedly pushed through the front door of a residence, entering the home without permission, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Chris Kaecker, 26, is being held on $33,000 bail. He also faces a gross misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and a misdemeanor charge of being arrested while on probation. According to the arrest report, the man had sent a text message to his ex-girlfriend while outside her Snyder Street address.

The woman told officers she opened the front door to the residence to talk to Kaecker but he pushed the front door open, knocking her back, the arrest report states. He then entered the residence without her permission, went into the living and began to argue with a man inside. The woman told officers she asked Kaecker to leave several times, the arrest report states.

He decided to leave and stepped outside the residence and continued to argue with the woman and man. The woman told officers she attempted to shut the door but that her ex-boyfriend became upset again and kicked the front door of the residence. Officers observed a foot print on the front of the door of the residence. The door would not close properly due to what appeared to be damage to the hinges, the arrest report states.

Officers went to the Kansas Drive home of the suspect, and placed him into custody at 11:45 p.m. on suspicion of domestic battery and home invasion. He was taken to jail. Officers conducted a criminal history check on the man, who pled guilty May 12, 2012 to domestic battery in Douglas County. He was also on Alternative Sentencing with “obey all laws” clauses.

He was read his Miranda rights, signed a rights wavier form and was interviewed. He told officers he went to the woman’s home, she opened the door and he stepped inside. He saw the man inside and began to argue with him. The woman stepped in front of him where “she may have got bumped,” he told officers. He told officers the woman yelled at him several times to leave the residence and he ignored her because he was yelling at the man inside. He said the man slammed the door on him and he blocked the door with his foot. He said he pushed the man and the woman may have accidently been pushed because she was between them. He was booked for home invasion, domestic battery (second) and being arrested while on probation.
