Two men affiliated with a motorcycle club were arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and obstructing officers at a restaurant in the 300 block of South Carson Street.
According to the arrest report deputies with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team were dispatched at 7:39 p.m. in reference to motorcycle club members entering the restaurant and open carrying a firearm. The club is a documented, criminal outlaw motorcycle group, the arrest report states.
According to witnesses, one of the club members was drinking a beer with one hand while resting his other hand on a firearm in its holster. The restaurant owner was advised open carry was legal in Nevada but that he had the right as a business owner as to whether to they could be on private property.
The business owner told deputies the club clothing and firearm was intimidating to restaurant customers but they could return to the restaurant without firearms.
Officers spoke with the club members and advised them of their choice. One member, age 30 of Reno, told the officer he was permitted to open carry his gun in public. Officers told him that he was on private property inside a restaurant and the restaurant owner felt customers were being intimidated. An officer asked to see identifications and was told by the 30-year-old club member that he did not have to provide identification.
The officer told the man that he was with an open container of alcohol, trespassing and was not free to leave without showing identification. The man refused and was placed into custody. As he was being arrested he leaned over to a fellow club member, age 21, believed to be an initiate and told him not to show his identification, the arrest report states. The suspect refused to show his identification.
