Four people are dead in two overnight accidents, believed to be alcohol related, on Highway 395 in Douglas County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The accidents happened within a few hours of each other. The first accident, in which three people died, was reported at 11:54 p.m. Saturday night near Leviathan Mine Road on Highway 395.
A single male driver from Reno was driving a 2007 Nissan pickup heading northbound where he struck oncoming traffic head-on, hitting a 1995 Geo Metro occupied by two people. The passenger of the Metro wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. The driver of the Metro died. The driver of the pickup, 21, who allegedly caused the accident, also died, said NHP spokeswoman Barbara Stapleton. Alcohol is believed to be the cause. Highway 395 was closed for about 5 hours.

The second accident happened at 4:38 a.m. Sunday on Highway 395 and Lucerne near mile marker 23. In this accident, a Jeep Wrangler attempted to make a right hand turn and rolled off the road, where they were partially ejected. The driver was taken to Carson Tahoe Medical Center in Gardnerville where they died. No information was available on driver. The road was closed for about 2 hours. The single vehicle accident is believed to be alcohol related, Stapleton said.
The names of the victims haven't been released pending notification of family.
