A Dayton man involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday on State Route 341, Geiger Grade, near Virginia City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton died Thursday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
NHP troopers were dispatched to the accident involving two motorcycles that occurred on State Route 341 near Storey Co. mile marker 7 approximately 3 miles North of Virginia City. Go here for the original story. Preliminary crash investigation details indicate a 2012 white KTM Racer motorcycle ridden by Sean M. Labrie, 47, of Sparks was traveling southbound on SR 341 and for unknown reasons Mr. Labrie failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2009 white Aprilla motorcycle head on that was traveling northbound ridden Mcintire.
Mr. Mcintire was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with serious life threatening injuries. Mr. Labrie was taken to Renown by Storey Co. Fire with serious injuries. Mr. Labrie is still in serious condition at Renown. Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the cause of this accident.
Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating this incident.
