A Carson City man was arrested earlier this week after officers found his vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway, with the intoxicated driver insisting that he was parked at a brothel, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The 41-year-old man was arrested Monday, Oct. 20, 11:43 p.m. in the area of Imperial and Applegate on a misdemeanor charge, suspicion of DUI first offense.

According to the arrest report, officers arrived at the location in reference to a man who was parked in the middle of the roadway, straddled half way in and half way out of his vehicle. Prior to arrival, dispatch advised the man was out of his vehicle trying to walk around. Dispatch advised the reporting witness noticed the man was rocking back and forth and appeared to be intoxicated, the arrest report states.

Officers arrived and noticed a green Dodge truck parked in the middle of both the southbound and northbound travel lanes. Officers made contact with the man and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Officers asked the man if he knew where he was at. The man replied: “I’m parked at the Bunny Ranch,” the arrest report states.

The officer told the man he was not parked at the Bunny Ranch and was, instead, parked in the middle of the roadway blocking both lanes of travel. The man said “No, I am not. I’m at the Bunny Ranch.” The officer asked the man for his driver’s license. The man was confused while trying to locate his license, the arresting deputy observed.

The officer asked the man if he had been drinking and the man replied “yes, I had a few beers and I am buzzed right now,” the arrest report states.

The man was asked if he’d be willing to perform Standardized Field Sobriety tests. He voluntarily agreed. When the man exited his vehicle he fell toward the officer. The officer grabbed his left arm and assisted the man with standing. The officer asked the man if he was OK to perform the tests. The man replied “yes.” The officer asked the man to walk over to the side of the roadway. As he was walking over to the roadway, he was swaying side to side and had to be assisted so that he would not fall to the ground, the arrest report states.

The officer attempted six sobriety tests where the man could not maintain his balance without assistance. The man told the arresting officer: “I’m sorry, I’m really buzzed.” He provided a preliminary breath test with a .282 and was taken to jail. Bail: $1,137.
