Three people face multiple criminal charges after a fight early Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of Hawaii Circle in Carson City.
Officers were dispatched to the home for a report of domestic battery in progress with a possible weapon involved. An anonymous person alerted dispatch of a fight involving several people.

As deputies arrived there were two men standing in the front lawn and a woman standing in the doorway of the home. The men have been identified as Steven Barnes, 48, and Joshua Emborsky, 21. The woman was identified as Elysia Varney, 19.

A deputy approached the front yard and watched as Barnes was holding the front of Emborsky's shirt, according to the arrest report. Because of the darkness and possible weapons involved, the officer drew his handgun and put the men at gunpoint, according to the arrest report.

As the officer activated his weapon mounted light, he saw that Barnes had a tire iron in his left hand. The deputy watched as Barnes began to raise the tire iron toward Emborsky's head. The deputy reported that he believed Barnes was going to hit Emborsky with the tire iron. The deputy yelled at both men" Sheriff's Office: Drop the weapon." Barnes looked at the deputy and dropped the tire iron, according to the arrest report.

The deputy then ordered both men to get on the ground in the prone position and both men complied. The deputy then ordered the woman to exit the house and sit on the front step. She complied.

By this time, other family members exited the home and began yelling at the deputy. Other Carson City sheriffs deputies began to arrive as the men were detained. Order was restored and the officer conducted the investigation.

According to the arrest report, the woman had been drinking at Toad's bar at about 1 a.m. and got a phone call from the suspect, who was also intoxicated, according to the report. He was angry because he thought the woman was seeing other men and wanted her to come home, according to the arrest report. When she refused, Emborsky asked Barnes to give him a ride to the bar. They did and there was a verbal argument there between the man and woman, according to the arrest report.

According to the arrest report, Emborsky grabbed the woman by the shirt and began to pull her toward the vehicle. While in the back of the vehicle the suspect, Emborsky, began punching the woman and called her vulgar names, according to the arrest report.

Barnes told deputies that as they arrived at the home, the argument escalated. Barnes allegedly grabbed a nearby tire iron and threatened to hit Emborsky, according to the report. The woman told officers that she then grabbed the tire iron and admitted to striking Emborsky in the legs and buttocks multiple times, according to the report. Both subjects stood up and continued to fight until deputies arrived.

During the intake search of Barnes, a deputy found a baggie of methamphetamine, according to the arrest report. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $25,632. Varney faces charges of battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and minor consuming alcohol. Her bail was set at $33,352. Emborsky faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
