A Carson City man faces felony robbery and grand larceny charges after allegedly attacking a man outside of a casino, grabbing his keys and stealing a Ford Bronco, crashing it into a fence all the while being naked.
Alex Xavier Anguiano, 20, was arrested around 6 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Highway 50.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area of a Goni Road casino where the theft of the Ford Bronco occurred, with the suspect, Anguiano, reportedly being naked. An officer who was looking for the Bronco saw the naked man running southbound near the intersection of Highway 50 East and Airport Road.
The officer approached Anguiano, activating the emergency lights of the patrol vehicle. The man stopped in the middle of the road on Highway 50 and turned toward the patrol vehicle, charging it saying "take me to God," the arrest report states.
The officer exited the patrol vehicle and ordered the man to the ground. The officer placed handcuffs on him with his hands behind his back. Paramedics were ordered to the scene to evaluate the man because it was approximately 15 degrees outside and the man kept saying he was "burning up," the arrest report states. Officers observed several small abrasions and lacerations on the man's elbows and knees. Because of the erratic behavior and the man repeatedly telling deputies to take him "to God" the condition of the man seemed consistent with someone under the influence of an illegal or controlled substance, the arrest report states.
Anguiano was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Facility for treatment. Deputies were able to find the vehicle after following the man's footprints found on the freshly fallen snow. The Ford Bronco was found crashed into a fence and shrubbery in the area of Airport Road and Thurman Circle.
Charges include felony robbery and grand larceny of the Ford Bronco, and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and hit and run property damage. Bail set at $66,500.
