A 30-year-old Carson City man, arrested on suspicion of DUI early Friday morning, also faces a felony charge of being in possession of a controlled substance and a gross misdemeanor charge of being in possession of a dangerous drug.

Carson City sheriff's patrol officers stopped Lauffette Kimmins Jr. for speeding, doing 44 mph in a 25 mph zone. The man showed signs of intoxication and admitted to taking Vicodin pills but denied drinking any alcoholic beverages. When officers spoke with the man, they could smell alcohol on his breath, the arrest report states.

Kimmins submitted to field sobriety tests in which he showed impairment on three of the tests. He was taken into custody.

A K-9 had alerted officers of a drug find near the front passenger door. There, deputies found an orange pill box in the center console of the vehicle. The pill bottle did not have a prescription label. In the bottle were six pills, two round blue pills, two round red pills, one large white pill and a small round white pill. The blue pills were identified as Aleve, the red pills as Ibuprofen, the small white pill as Tramodol (which can only be obtained with a prescription) and the large white pill as Carisoprodol, (a schedule 4 drug.)

At jail Kimmins agreed to give blood samples. Bail: $6,065.
