Carson City weekend arrests include DUIs, domestic battery and bench warrants

A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:21 a.m. in the area of North Plaza and East Caroline streets on misdemeanor charges of being an intoxicated pedestrian, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest with violence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Carson Street for a vehicle accident in a parking lot. Dispatch alerted officers that the subjects involved in the accident were confrontational and getting violent with casino security.

Arriving officers learned one of the subjects involved had left the scene and walked away. An officer located the man and ordered him to stop. The man refused to obey the deputy’s order. Another deputy, advised of the situation, located the man on North Plaza Street arguing with casino security, the arrest report states.

A Carson City deputy arrived and made contact with the man, who emitted a strong odor of alcohol and was slurring his words. The man resisted arrest and tried to prevent officers from placing his arms behind his back. He was advised of his Miranda rights. He stated that he understood his rights. He was taken to jail where he called the arresting officer an “Asian bitch” and “f***ing chink” referring to the officer’s Asian ethnicity. The man submitted to a preliminary breath test of .106. Bail: $836.

— A 41-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Saturday, 4:24 a.m. in the area of Colorado and South Roop streets on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to obey a traffic control device. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the area of Fairview Drive and Saliman Road for a possible intoxicated driver called in by a reporting witness.

Officers located the vehicle that matched the description, followed it and saw that it made no attempt to stop at a red traffic light at South Roop Street as it was turning southbound. The deputy followed the vehicle, estimated to be being going 15 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. The driver was stopped and agreed to do standardized field sobriety tests in which he did not perform as explained and demonstrated. He consented to a preliminary breath test which showed he was over .08, the arrest report states. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to jail where he chose to have his blood drawn. Bail: $1,224.

— A 33-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 9 a.m. in the 1700 block of Russell Way on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued Oct. 22, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $840.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 11:24 a.m. in the 2200 block of east Long Street on two counts misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, officers were called to a residence regarding a domestic battery. Upon arrival, deputies met with the reporting victim, the mother of the suspect. She advised she was having a verbal argument with her daughter. During the argument the 24-year-old daughter allegedly attacked her mother and her brother, who is a juvenile, the arrest report states.

The suspect was locked in an upstairs bathroom. She opened the door and frantically moved around, with officers observing a transparent plastic tube smoking device consistent with methamphetamine drug usage, the arrest report states.

The mother told officers her daughter hit her in the arms and on the back of the head several times. The mother had red marks on her forearms consistent with what she told the officer. She stated her daughter hit her brother on the back of the head and kicked him in the shin. The juvenile had marks on his face consistent with the mother’s story, the arrest report states. Both denied medical attention. The 24-year-old woman was arrested on two counts domestic battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $7,411.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 2:48 p.m. in the area of Humboldt Lane and William Street on a suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, failure to maintain a travel lane, disobedience to a traffic control device and no proof of insurance. According to the arrest report, officers observed the driver failing to complete a stop on Saliman Road at an intersection, and then continuing to drive, failing to maintain the travel lane by crossing over a solid white line approximately four times, according to the arrest report.
A deputy initiated a traffic stop and observed signs of intoxication including slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.

The officer asked the man if he would submit to a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. The man told the officer: “No. You cops are f***ing corrupt.” He then put his hands up and began to yell “Hands Up Don’t Shoot. Ferguson, Missouri” numerous times, the arrest report states.

Based on the man’s driving, his objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence, and his refusal to do field sobriety tests, the officer arrested the man on suspicion of DUI. The man’s vehicle insurance showed that it had expired as of Oct. 20, 2014.
Officers contacted the on-call judge and the district attorney’s office to obtain a search warrant to do a blood draw. Bail: $2,058.

— A 40-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Saturday, 5:45 p.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Oct. 20, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10:58 p.m. in the area of Como and Carson Meadows on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 23, 2013 out of Carson City District Court. Bail: $5,000.

— A 30-year-old Glenbrook, Nev., man was arrested Saturday, 11:23 p.m. in the area of Fifth Street and Airport Road on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued Oct. 27, 2014 out of East Fork Township Court.

According to the arrest report, officers located the man driving southbound on Fairview and Butti at a high rate of speed. The arresting officer clocked the vehicle doing 56 mph in a 35 mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the officer met with the driver. A computer check through dispatch returned the man had a confirmed warrant for his arrest out of East Fork Township Court.
The warrant was signed on Oct. 27, 2014 with the bail set at $25,000, the arrest report states. There was also an extended protection order that needed to be served on the man. Officers arrested the man on the warrant and then, at jail, served him the extended protection order.

— 23-year-old Carson City woman, Kady Joann Werlinger, was arrested Friday, 5:25 p.m. in the 4200 block of Shelbyville Drive on a felony warrant, alleging possession of a controlled substance, issued Dec. 2, 2014 out of Carson City District Court. Bail: $5,000.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
