Two brothers were arrested on misdemeanor charges early Tuesday at a motel apartment in the 200 block of West Caroline Street after fighting with each other, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the motel at 2:24 a.m. When they arrived they could hear yelling coming from a third floor. Officers met with one of the men, age 56, standing in front of the room and observed another man, who had blood streaming from his nose, inside the room.

Officers asked the 57-year-old man with the bloody nose if he wanted to be treated by paramedics for his injuries. He stated he did not. The 56-year-old brother was asked what happened. The man told police that he lives in on the second floor of the building and that he went to his biological brother's room on the third floor to tell him about a date he had earlier that night.

The 56-year-old man advised police that his brother told him to leave because he was tired and that they could talk in the morning. The younger brother stated he did not want to leave and got angry with his older brother since he helps support him financially.

The younger brother stated his older brother yelled at him and then they got into a physical altercation. Officers then spoke with the 57-year-old brother who had an odor of alcohol and blood on his nose and mouth area.

He advised that he let his younger brother in the room and they were talking. He stated his brother became angry and wanted to fight. He told his brother he did not want to fight and he asked him to leave the apartment. He told the deputy that when his younger brother drinks he "gets physical."

The officer asked the man to explain what "gets physical" means. The man balled up his right hand and punched a pillow on the bed, the arrest report states.

Officers asked the 57-year-old man if he could fill out a statement of the incident. The man refused to complete the statement. The officer then conducted a wants and warrants check on both brothers and was advised by dispatch that the 57-year-old brother is currently under supervision with the Department of Alternative Sentencing with a "no drinking" clause and search and seizure for alcohol. He provided a breath sample of .146 and was booked into jail on a charge of probation violation. Bail: $3,000.

The 56-year-old brother was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested. Dispatch advised the man had a prior conviction for domestic battery within the past seven years. He was charged with domestic battery second offense. Bail: $5,137.
