Domestic abuse calls keep Carson City officers busy over weekend

Carson City law officers were busy over the weekend dealing with a spat of domestic violence cases. Most involved drinking, with at least one of the cases resulting in a woman being taken to the hospital after she was punched and kicked in the head and face.

March 28
A 21-year-old unemployed Carson City man was arrested on domestic battery charges after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend from behind and held a tight hold on her until she collapsed. The incident happened at North Roop and Northridge streets at about 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers responded after a witness called dispatch to report that a man was abusing a woman in the street. During the investigation, officers found wounds on the woman that were consistent with the alleged abuse, including redness to the left and right arms and shoulders, and bruises on her lower back.

As officers arrived they found the woman but learned from the witness that the man had run into a field. Officers went to the man's home but he wasn't there. He subsequently turned himself into deputies at the Carson City Detention Center.

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested without incident after he allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend several times. According to a Carson City sheriff's deputy report, a friend of the victim reported that the woman had been beaten by the suspect near the 3000 block of Sherman Lane at around 4 a.m.

The arresting officer, who had known the suspect and victim because of previous law enforcement contacts, observed the woman had "very serious injuries" to her head and face.

The officer observed blood caked on the woman's face and blood from her mouth. The victim was transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center by family members.

The suspect attempted to flee the area when officers arrived. He was subsequently caught in the 2700 block of Century Lane. Officers reported that there was blood on his hands and a "fresh offensive wound" to his right hand. The man was booked at the Carson City Jail facility facing charges of domestic battery. His bail was set at 3,132.

A 29-year-old Carson City unemployed man was arrested in the 3200 block of Imperial Way after allegedly choking and hitting his girlfriend following a night of drinking.

The victim told authorities that the man came home drunk, and, as usually the case when the suspect gets drunk, he turns angry and violent.

The man apparently become angry with the suspect and yelled at her while holding the couple's child. The woman stated the man got up and then struck her in the face with an open palm. The woman told deputies that she then began to yell at the suspect.

According to the Carson City sheriff's deputy report, the man stood up again, placed the child on the sofa, and then grabbed the woman around her neck, causing her to fall backwards toward the floor.

The woman stated the man yelled her her, and then tightened his grasp on her throat. The victim was found by deputies with blood coming from her mouth and had swollen marks on her neck with hand and fingerprints, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to jail. He faces a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation. His bail was set at $15,000.
