A fatal crash on Highway 395 at Airport Road in Douglas County remains under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Fatality accident on US395 at Airport Road
On July 18, 2011 at approximately 5:15pm, 41 year old Jeffrey Gray of Mound House, Nevada was driving his red 1992 Subaru station wagon northbound on US395. 18 year old Juvenal Pineda was westbound on Airport Road (in Douglas County) stopped at the stop sign at US395. Mr. Pineda was driving a green 1995 Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro pulled out from the stop sign, failing to yield the right of way to the Subaru striking it in the right front.
Mr. Gray was pronounced deceased a short time later. Mr. Pineda was not seriously injured in the accident.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

This is the 2nd fatality accident at this location in 4 days. However, the cause of each accident was not the same.
State law requires all vehicles entering a main road from a minor road, private road or driveway must yield the right-of-way to all traffic on the main road and to pedestrians.
Failure to yield the right-of-way is the major cause of accidents in Nevada.It is advised for driver’s to make sure to look both directions before crossing into someone’s right-of way, then double check the closest travel lane that they would be crossing again.
