* As a cost saving move, NV Energy has announced it will close its Carson City office on Long Street effective next Friday. NV Energy said in a news release that it’s regular operations and maintenance crew will remain. But they won’t be accepting any payments for energy bills. NV Energy says customers can still pay by mail or automatic checking account deductions. They can also pay by credit or debit card by phone by calling 800-809-1013. If customers still insist on paying in person they can still do that by paying at local grocery stores, including Raley’s, Sak n’ Save, and Smith’s. For those who want to pay on line, they can do so at www.NVEnergy.com.

NV Energy is also closing down rural customer service operations in Elko, Yerington, Henderson and Laughlin.
* Capital Ford said they raised $6,000 for Carson High School Girls Basketball Saturday, in their first ever “Drive 4 Ur School” program. Those showing up to test drive a new Ford vehicle had $20 donated on their behalf by Ford into the basketball fund. The fund pays for uniforms, transportation and other “on the road” expenses for the team. Capital Ford employees got the chance to interest drivers in purchasing new Ford vehicles. And from overhearing a few conversations, they probably sold more than just a few. A Win-Win for CHS Girls Basketball and Capital Ford.
