Carson City man faces felony domestic battery charge

A 33-year-old Carson City man faces a felony domestic battery charge after allegedly attempting to strangle his girlfriend. Jared Allen Medejros was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Monday in the 2900 block of Menlo Drive. He is being held on $15,000 bail.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence for a call of domestic violence. Officers heard a man's voice and a woman crying outside the door. Officers knocked on the door and the man answered on his knees and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath.

He was detained as officers spoke with the victim. She told officers that Medejros grabbed her by the neck and squeezed hard to the point where she felt for her life. She said that he made a fist and drew it, but didn't hit her, the arrest report states. Officers report the woman had a fresh red and purple bruise forming on the right side of her neck, approximately 2 to 2.5 inches.

Medejros was arrested and booked into Carson City jail with a felony charge of domestic violence with strangulation.

In other arrests:

A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday and faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. The man was arrested at 7:27 p.m. in the 1900 block of Hamilton Drive.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the address for a report of domestic battery. On arrival officers spoke the suspect outside the residence who said that he had been drinking since 11 a.m. and was watching football in the house when his girlfriend was bothering him so he said he tried to push her out of the house, the arrest report states.

The man, who had a preliminary breath test of .14, told officers he put both arms around hers and tried to pick her up to get her out, the arrest report states.

The woman had red watery eyes and slurred speech when she spoke with officers. She said she was sitting on the couch when the man grabbed both of her hands and drug her across the carpet toward the door, the arrest report states. She said the man let her go and she went back to the couch.

He grabbed her a second time by the wrists and again drug her across the carpet, the arrest report states. Officers observed red marks on the woman's elbows consistent with being drug as she described, the arrest report states. The man was arrested for domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 56-year-old Carson City woman was taken into protect custody Oct. 14, 8:24 p.m. from the area of Robinson and Plaza streets.

— A 19-year-old Carson City man faces misdemeanor charges of minor consuming alcohol and being in violation of bail conditions. He was arrested at 3:53 a.m. Tuesday in the 4700 block of South Carson Street.

According to the arrest report officers went to the address on a noise complaint. The man was sitting on a couch in front of a coffee table. On the coffee table were several opened cans of beer. Officers asked the man if he is on probation and the man said that he was not.

Officers asked the man if he had been drinking and he said that he had not. A computer check showed the man is on alternative sentencing with a no drugs or drinking clause and a submit to search for alcohol, drugs and paraphernalia.

Officers asked the man again if he had been drinking he again said he had not. When officers told the man he would have to provide a breath sample since he is on alternative sentencing, he admitted to drinking a couple beers. He provided a breath sample on the PBT with a result of .024. Bail: $3,242.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
