A 21-year-old Carson City woman died this morning in a vehicle accident 10 miles east of Dayton on HIghway 50.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that at 6:48 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the collision that involved a blue Honda two-door passenger vehicle and a red Ford Ranger pickup truck, said Trooper Michael Edgell. Alcohol may have played a factor in the accident, he said.

The 23-year-old driver of the Honda, Andrew Liljenquist, was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno. His condition is not known. The name of the woman who died hasn't been released pending notification of family.

The Highway 50 accident was about 10 miles east of Dayton with a posted speed limit in the area of 65. The blue Honda was traveling westbound toward Dayton when it, for an unknown reason, swerved to the right. The Honda then swerved back to the left and turned broadside, crossing the double yellow center line into the path of the on-coming red Ford Ranger pickup, said Trooper Edgell.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, Charles Wohosky, pickup steered to the right to avoid the Honda, but was unable to avoid the collision. The Honda was struck in the right side by the front of the pickup, Edgell said.

The passenger in the Honda, a 21-year old female from Carson City, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is not being released at this time.

Charles Wohosky and passenger, Janice Wiley, in the Ford Ranger pickup, both from Carson City, were transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital by ground ambulance.

Preliminary investigation reveals that alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.

The eastbound travel lane on Highway 50, where the crash occurred, was closed due to the accident. The Nevada Department of Transportation assisted the NHP with the closure and traffic control. Traffic was being routed around the accident to accommodate traffic.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) will be conducting the investigation and witnesses, or anyone with additional information, is encouraged to call Trooper Eric Gallagher at (775) 689‐4661 regarding case # NHP‐201103180157.
