Comment on City Supervisors still moving along on the Nugget Project by Nevada Man

Let’s pray for our supervisors to have the strength to resist the sweet tunes from the lips of the evil enticer, and the sobriety to see whom they’re dealing with. The Nugget is in the business of gambling, which is a legalized form of robbery.
Maybe they’ve never seen the victims of this trade sitting unresponsive to anything around them in front of computer controlled bandits, their faces frozen in a frown, their eyes lassoed by ever repeating flashes of colored light, their left hands feeding alcohol and nicotine into their systems, while the right wastes away the paycheck one quarter at a time. It’s the most pathetic view a morally sound human will suffer.
To the Nugget, however, it’s the fairest view of all, and it can’t get enough. Therefore it wants to gamble millions of dollars with a stimulus package designed to attract more victims, and to minimize the risk invites the public to be the minority partner responsible for providing and maintaining the non-profit-generating components of the project.

Carson City can only lose with this project. Financing it will require a hike of the local sales tax, making shopping trips to Douglas County even more attractive than they already are. For all of us; not just the soon to be laid-off city employees.
