Carson City Sheriff's deputies weren't feeling the love this weekend, as they arrested three people involved in different incidents for assaulting or battering officers.
On Friday night, deputies arrested Daniel Lane Holley, 38, near his home in the 300 block of West 5th Street for felony assault on a police officer and misdemeanor obstruction/delay of a police officer. Deputies responded to the scene after a report that the subject was intoxicated and causing a disturbance.
According to the arrest report, when deputies located Holley, he took up a fighting stance and approached one of them. After ignoring commands to stop, another deputy activated his Taser against Holley, but it didn't have any effect. The deputy Holley was approaching tried to use pepper spray on him, but that didn't work either.
Holley only stopped after a third deputy used his Taser, knocking him to the ground. The subject then allegedly resisted being handcuffed and had to be shocked with the Taser a few more times to get him to comply. A preliminary breath test showed Holley had a blood alcohol level of .259. His bail was set at $25,000.
Early Sunday morning a deputy made contact with a 26-year-old Carson City man drinking beer in front of a bar in the 100 block of East Telegraph. According to the arrest report, the deputy told the subject to take the beer back inside the bar, to which the subject replied "F--- you!" The deputy then took the beer and poured it on the ground, and handed the empty bottle back to the subject, advising him to go back inside the bar. As the deputy was walking away, the subject reportedly threw the beer bottle at the deputy, hitting near his feet. The subject was then swiftly taken into custody. A records check showed the subject was on alternative sentencing with a no-alcohol clause. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .16. The subject was arrested for gross misdemeanor assault on a police officer, misdemeanor possession of open container of alcohol, misdemeanor violation of bail conditions, and misdemeanor littering. His bail was set at $6,369.
Also early Sunday morning, deputies responded to Granite Way after a complaint of loud music. According to the arrest report, the deputies located the source of the music and knocked several times, but the female subject inside refused to turn the music down or open the door to talk to them. At one point, she partially opened the door and a small dog ran out and started barking at the deputies.
When the subject opened the door again to retrieve the dog, she allegedly pushed one of the deputies backwards with both hands. The subject, who deputies reported smelled strongly of alcohol, then resisted being put under arrest. A preliminary breath test showed she had a blood alcohol level of .25. She was arrested for gross misdemeanor battery on a police officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and misdemeanor obstructing a police officer. Her bail was set at $3,431.
