You would normally think it's minors who get busted for fake IDs when it comes to buying alcohol, but in this case, a gas station clerk was arrested after he sold alcohol to a 16-year-old decoy, and was found to have a false identification.
Gurpreet Singh Gill, 28, was arrested Monday evening in the 1100 block of North Carson Street for felony possession of false ID and misdemeanor unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor.
According to the arrest report, deputies sent the decoy into the Chevron gas station, and he exited with a "FOUR Locos" alcoholic drink. When deputies confronted the lone clerk, he argued and said he didn't know the drink had any alcohol. But when the clerk scanned the can in front of deputies, the cash register came up with a prompt that asked for a birthdate of the buyer. When asked if he had overridden the prompt, the clerk would not answer.
The clerk was found to have a U.S. Employment Authorization Card under the name Sing Gill-Grypocet that deputies recognized as being fake. When the owner of the gas station arrived, he produced documentation with the clerk's real name.
Bail was set at $8,142.
