A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday at a South Minnesota Street residence on suspicion of abuse of calling 911 dispatch, a gross misdemeanor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 4:44 a.m. to a bar in the 300 block of East William Street in reference to a fight in progress. The reporting witness advised there was a fight at the location with 20 subjects.
Deputies arrived at the scene, which was calm. Deputies located a 16-year-old female juvenile loitering inside. She had consumed and was in possession of alcohol and was arrested by deputies, the arrest report states.
At 4:55 a.m. dispatch received a 911 call from a male caller who advised someone had broken into his home and they saw a pistol. He advised he lived at a Molly street address. The caller said he ran upstairs after he saw a subject with a gun. The line disconnected. Dispatch advised they were unable to reach the caller again.
Dispatch further advised they found the call to be at an address on Minnesota Street. When dispatch advised of the address, the 16-year-old juvenile said that was her address, the arrest report states.
Deputies then responded the Minnesota Street address and made contact with a female inside and checked to make sure she was OK. She advised there was nothing wrong and invited deputies inside the home.
They located two subjects upstairs, the 23-year-old suspect and another man. The suspect was evasive and would not answer questions about his identity. He wanted to talk over the officer rather than speak to the officer and was arrested. The deputy asked if he wanted to speak.
The man said yes and was read his Miranda rights. He advised he understood his rights and would speak. He said he was at the bar but did not know his 16-year-old sister was there. A deputy told the man there was a 911 call placed from the Minnesota street residence. The suspect said he didn’t make the call. The deputy told the suspect that his sister was already in trouble and that he should cooperate. He told the officer to do what the officer had to do, the arrest report states.
A deputy then met with the other man, 18, who was read his Miranda rights. He advised he understood his rights and would speak. He said he was hiding in the bathroom at the bar with the 16-year-old-juvenile. He advised he was hiding because he consumed alcohol earlier.
He said he walked out of the bathroom and left the juvenile at the bar and that the suspect then made the phone call. He said the suspect’s voice would be on the 911 recording. He told the officer they did not plan it together and the suspect just did it. He told the officer the 23-year-old suspect did it to help his sister. The 18-year-old man was issued a citation for minor consuming, the arrest report states.
The suspect was taken to jail and booked at 5:35 a.m. He had a breath alcohol content of .200. He was charged with abuse of 911, and contributing to delinquency of a minor. Bail: $3,137.
