The Stewart Father's Day Powwow Committee in partnership with the Nevada Indian Commission is hosting the 2016 Stewart Father's Day Powwow at the former Stewart Indian School in Carson City, June 17-19, 2016. The Stewart Indian School was the only off-reservation boarding school in Nevada for American Indian students over a 90-year span.

This annual powwow draws a number of quality American Indian artisans, and is also a time for alumni, former employees and their families and friends to gather at the former campus. Additionally, this fundraising event is part of an effort to establish the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center to preserve the history and memorabilia of the former school.

There will be competition dancing, arts and crafts vendors, Indian tacos, drum groups, a raffle and silent auction, and an alumni reception. It is the Committee's hope that this event will give the community a sample of American Indian heritage, history and pride.

Grand Entry is at 7:00pm Friday, Saturday at 1:00pm and 7:00pm, and Sunday at 12:00pm. This is an alcohol and drug-free event.
