The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has completed the investigation regarding the fatal accident that claimed the life of a four-year-old Gardnerville boy, Mason Geist, on Feb. 24.
The investigation has established that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, and that the U-Haul truck did not have any mechanical malfunction which contributed to the accident, said Undersheriff Paul Howell. It is believed the boy shifted the truck from park into neutral, causing the vehicle to go into motion, which resulted in Mason being ejected from the cab of the truck.
The report will be forwarded to the Douglas County District Attorney for final review.
