Two men were arrested Friday, 3:45 a.m. at the intersection of William and Stewart streets in Carson City on drug-related charges.
Casey S. Clifford, 20, faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and three lesser charges: obstructing an officer, possession marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A 31-year-old man was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
According to the arrest report, a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup was stopped for not having a rear license plate. Clifford was in the left rear passenger seat. When interviewed by a Carson City sheriff's deputy the man claimed to be his brother, giving officers his brother's name and personal information from his brother's Nevada license.
His identity was discovered when one of the vehicle passenger's was interviewed. The passenger told officers the man's real name and said they had known each other after being in the Washoe County Jail together, the arrest report states.
During an inventory of the truck, Clifford's wallet with a package of methamphetamine was found. Also found in the search was a scale, a bag of marijuana, and a glass methamphetamine pipe. Bail for Clifford: $4,611. Bail for the 31-year-old driver: $1,478.
In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of East Lee street for on suspicion of filing a false police report and probation violation, both misdemeanors.
According to the arrest report, the man filed a sexual assault complaint on behalf of his six-year-old niece. He provided officers a list of supposed eyewitnesses to the incident, the arrest report states.
A deputy contacted the witnesses listed at which time they provided statements noting that the man making the complaint had mentioned to them that he planned to file such a report to get his sister and her family in trouble, the arrest report states.
The supposed eyewitnesses never saw anything to point and lead to a sexual assault, the report states. The written statements to police claimed the man had just been kicked out of his sister's home and was homeless.
Later the same day the officer conducted an interview with victim named in the complaint. She denied any inappropriate behavior by anyone and did not indicate any forms of behavior common to victims of sexual assault, the arrest report states. The man was arrested on suspicion of filing a false police report and a misdemeanor charge of probation violation. Bail: $8,137.
— A 63-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of battery, April 4, 2:14 p.m. in the 200 block of East Adams Street. The woman allegedly punched a man, the boyfriend of the woman's daughter, in the face several times. Bail: $1,137.
— A 31-year-old Minden man was arrested Friday, April 4, 8:08 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on a bench warrant out of Lyon County for failure to comply and pay fine. Bail: $200.
— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, April 5, 3:18 a.m. in the 1600 block of Wendy Lane on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Dec. 17, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court.
— A 35-year-old man was booked into Carson City Jail Saturday, April 5, on a warrant, violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $1,000.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:07 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street. The arrest was for violation of pretrial conditions, which were not to have alcohol. The man blew a preliminary breath test of .304, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,000.
— A 37-year-old San Jose, Calif., man was arrested Saturday, 3:38 a.m. in the 2500 block of Scotch Pine on suspicion of battery. The suspect was a passenger in the back seat of a car. The victim, who was sitting in the front seat, told officers that she turned the car radio on and the 37-year-old suspect became angry and began to choke her. Bail: $1,137.
— A 43-year-old Reno woman was arrested Saturday, 9:11 p.m. at the intersection of Telegraph and Carson streets. she faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. The woman, who is on Alternative Sentencing, was seen in an alley trying to kick in the driver side window of a vehicle. She gave a preliminary breath test of .193. Bail: $1,000.
— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of larceny 1:30 p.m. at the Walmart store in the 3200 block of Market Street. The woman allegedly walked into the store and selected a cell phone valued at $107.35, concealing it and leaving the store without paying.
As the officer was speaking with loss prevention about the incident, the woman chimed in that she "stole the phone" from the $50 section and not the $100 section of phones. She completed a statement confessing to the theft.
The woman was also arrested on two misdemeanor counts of contempt of court, failure to appear warrants issued out of Carson City, Sept. 6, 2011 and Reno Municipal Court, May 23, 2011. Bail: $1,820.
— A 36-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery at 9:48 p.m. in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence and spoke with a married couple. He said she threw a bag of Dorito's at him and attacked him and he pushed her off to keep her from hitting him. The woman claimed her husband punched her in the face and pulled out a chunk of hair.
The officer could not see any injury to the woman's face, common when someone is punched in the face, nor could they see any chunks of hair missing, according to the arrest report. The woman was arrested as the primary aggressor. Bail: $3,000.
— A Carson City woman was arrested at 12:28 a.m. Sunday in the area of South Carson and Koontz Lane on a contempt of court warrant. She was stopped for speeding, clocked going 54 mph in a posted 35 mph. Dispatch advised the woman had a warrant for her arrested issued Dec. 11, 2013. Bail: $215.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 11:41 p.m. at West Winnie Lane and North Division streets on a failure to appear traffic warrant and driving on an invalid driver's license. Bail: $417.
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Sunday, 10:27 a.m. on a contempt of court warrant issued June 6, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $351.
— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, April 7, 4:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds on two misdemeanor counts violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,000.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
