A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:21 p.m. on felony suspicion of child abuse. The name of the suspect is being withheld because of the relationship with the juvenile he allegedly abused.
The man is being held on $40,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 1500 block of Firebox Drive in reference to a child abuse report. Officers met with the alleged juvenile victim and a former step mother.
Officers observed redness and minor swelling to the juvenile’s nose and a towel that had a considerable amount of blood on it, according to the arrest report. The juvenile explained he had been having a hard time getting along with his father and that there had been arguments earlier at their home in the 700 block of Sonoma Street.
At around 7 p.m. he said his father began yelling at him because his room wasn’t clean. The two began to argue about that and a fight the boy had gotten into Friday at school. The juvenile said his father punched him in the face causing his nose to bleed and then pinned him on the bed. The juvenile said he fled the residence through the garage.
Officer spoke with the father who explained he had grounded the juvenile and took his phone away, which created a verbal altercation between the two. He said the boy began calling his father names and was cussing at him. He said the he warned his son to not cuss at him or he would smack his mouth.
When the juvenile continued, the man said he slapped his son once in mouth, the arrest report states. He said his son’s nose began to bleed so he gave him a towel and told him to stay in his room and think about what he had done. The father wrote a statement about the incident and denied having punched, shoved or pushed his son. CPS was called and made arrangements for the placement of the juveniles living at the home.

A 31-year-old Vallecito, Calif., man, arrested Monday on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, also faces two felony warrant charges out of Calaveras County.
Jacob Harman Kitchell was arrested at 7:08 p.m. in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on suspicion of domestic battery after allegedly hitting his girlfriend several times with his fist in the face and head. The two had an argument over Facebook messages, the arrest report states. The victim had a visible lump on the left side of her forehead and above her left eye with visible redness to the face.
Harman was arrested. Once at jail and booked deputies were notified Tuesday morning that Kitchell had two felony fugitive from justice warrants for his arrests issued Jan. 12, 2015 out of Calaveras County Superior Court. He is being held without bail awaiting to be extradited to Calaveras County.
— A 21-year-old Carson City Reno man, Juan Galban-Cruz, was arrested Monday, 8:10 p.m. in the 4000 block of Pheasant Drive on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and misdemeanor charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. $4,274. Another man who was with Cruz was also arrested on misdemeanor suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 8:35 p.m. in the 3700 block of Woodside Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court, issued July 18, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $170.
— A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:03 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Curry Street on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Dec. 15, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 4:35 p.m. in the 3300 block of Imperial Drive on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the witness told officers that her boyfriend had physically grabbed her arms with his hands and then physically forced her to the floor after shaking her. She said the man also displayed a knife and threatened to cut himself if she left him, the arrest report states.
Officers interviewed the man who said that he had been in a dispute with the woman, but did not force her to the floor. He said he grabbed the woman’s arms because he wanted her to stay and talk with him and not to leave the residence, the arrest report states. He told officers he did threatened to cut himself with a knife but had only did it out of anger and hoping the woman would not leave him. Bail: $3,137.
— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 4:29 p.m. in the 200 block of East Nye Way on suspicion of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and misdemeanor DUI. According to the arrest report, officers observed a man driving at a high rate of speed with a child inside the car in the area of Northgate and Nye.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, spoke with the driver and smelled alcohol on his breath. The man agreed to submit to field sobriety tests, and did not satisfactorily complete the tests, the arrest report stated. He blew a preliminary breath test of .117. At jail he took evidentiary breath tests with results of .228 and .222, the arrest report states. Bail: $3,637.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday, 3 p.m. on a misdemeanor warrant charge, contempt of court, issued August 20, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday, 12:35 p.m. on a misdemeanor DUI warrant, issued Jan. 8, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
