Carson City man arrested after giving false ID, fleeing prior to field sobriety test

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 26, 4:40 p.m. on suspicion of larceny and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
He was arrested in the 3600 block of North Carson Street at a grocery store where he attempted to steal $92 worth of liquor, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report. Bail: $594.

In other arrests: A 54-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Winnie and Carson streets on a misdemeanor warrant, contempt of court. The man was stopped for doing 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. Bail: $500.

— A 50-year-old Carson City man turned himself into the sheriff's office for having an outstanding violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $1,000.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 25, 8:31 p.m. in the 300 block of Appion. He faces seven misdemeanor charges including DUI after being stopped, allegedly providing an officer a wrong name and then running away during a field sobriety test.

According to the arrest report, officers patrolling the area saw a vehicle driving in an under construction zone off of Snyder. The driver was stopped and verbally identified himself with a false name and date of birth. While speaking the officer said he smelled a moderate odor of alcohol and a strong odor of marijuana on his breath. The man was asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle. He provided the officer with a glass pipe and said that he had smoked a bowl prior to driving, the arrest report states.

An NHP officer arrived as the officer was about to do a series of field sobriety tests with the the driver. The NHP watched driver as the Carson City Sheriff's Deputy went to speak with the passenger, Tim Edwin Jacobsen, 19, of Minden. Jacobsen told the officer that the two had a few beers and had been kicked out of the bowling alley. In the back of the vehicle the officer observed two opened 24 bottles of Mickey's Big Mouth beer.

The officer then heard a commotion and saw the NHP trooper chasing the driver where he caught up to him hiding in a yard in the 300 block of Appion. The driver was taken into custody where his identify was revealed after officers retrieved the man's wallet.

The man refused to submit to field sobriety tests. He was read the Implied Consent where he refused to take any chemical tests. He was taken to jail where three blood samples were taken.

Among the charges other than suspicion of DUI, he also faces misdemeanor charges of minor consuming alcohol, being an unlicensed driver, open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal left turn and obstructing/resisting arrest. Bail: $3,449.

The passenger, Jacobsen, faces a felony charge of being in possession of another person's ID to avoid prosecution. During the interview with officers he presented himself with a California driver's license. A computer check showed the license was assigned to another individual. His bail is $15,247.

In other arrests:

A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, Nov. 25, 7:05 p.m. in the 200 block of Jeanell. He faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Officers were called to the residence because of an intoxicated man.

Officers arrived and the man was asked to leave by the apartment manager. As he was leaving he began making statements about how he was going to mess with the police, and began yelling obsentities. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and booked. He submitted to a preliminary breath test that resulted in a .311. Bail: $242.
