UPDATE: A man was severely beaten Thursday night in the 1000 block of Woodside Drive in Carson City and remains in critical condition as of Friday morning, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. The suspects remain at large.
The victim was unresponsive and not breathing when emergency crews arrived at the scene and CPR was administered, said Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Brian Humphrey. The initial report came into dispatch as a stabbing but there are no indications, as of Friday morning, that the victim suffered stab wounds, said Furlong.
Care Flight airlifted the man to Renown Medical Center in Reno. The assault happened among acquaintances of the man and appears to be drinking-related.
"Alcohol appears to be related to the conflict," Furlong said.
There were multiple 911 calls to the Stanton Arms apartment location, initially reported as a stabbing, reported shortly after 8 p.m., Thursday night. When officers arrived they found the unconscious man. Carson City Sheriff's Office personnel and detectives continue to investigate today.
Officers were looking for a newer model dark gray Chevy Impala. There are persons of interest, said Humphrey.
