Carson City deputies stop man after he allegedly drives truck into mail boxes

A man was stopped at around noon Thursday on Arrowhead Drive in Carson City after allegedly driving his truck into mailboxes on Sunrise Drive and then fleeing the scene.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies detained the man after two reports came into dispatch beginning at 11:47 a.m. of a man in a gray pickup hitting mailboxes as he was leaving the scene.

When deputies caught up with the driver on Arrowhead Drive, the vehicle had a flat tire. The Carson City Fire Department was called to evaluate the man. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

In other news:
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of DUI. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Gordon and Walker streets in reference to a vehicle that ran into a fence.

Deputies spoke with the driver of the vehicle who stated he was traveling approximately 40 mph in a posted 25 mph one when he attempted to take the corner fast, causing him to lose control, hitting the wooden fence of a residence, the arrest report states.

While speaking with the man, deputies noticed an odor of alcohol on his breath and slurred speech. The man stated he consumed alcohol and agreed to a submit to field sobriety tests, the arrest report states.

During the tests the man could not perform them as explained and demonstrated, the arrest report states. He provided a breath sample with results above the legal limit, the report states. He was taken into custody, where he was read the Nevada Implied Consent. The man chose to take a breath test. The results were a .110 and a .108, according to the arrest report. He was booked on misdemeanor charges of DUI and due care. Bail: $1,279.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 12:34 a.m. in the 100 block of Koontz Lane on suspicion of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, officers made contact with the man and his girlfriend at the residence. The man was grossly intoxicated and sitting in a chair in the living room.

A deputy spoke with the man who told him that he and his girlfriend had been arguing and that he had kicked in the door of their house after returning from a hotel he stated he was staying in after an earlier dispute that night, the arrest report states.

The woman said the man had been drinking all day and that he began to yell at her. At one point she said he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her backward onto the bed, the arrest report states. The woman said the man was yelling that he would kill her and burn the house down. The man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 7:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Park Street on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail: $3,132.

— A 52-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday 3:01 p.m. at East Second and South Harbin streets on charges of violation of a suspended sentence and driving with a non-function brake light.

The man was stopped for the vehicle violation. A computer check showed the man had a confirmed warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court for violation of a suspended sentence. Bail $3,072.

— A 22-year-old man was booked into Carson City jail Wednesday, 6:48 p.m. on a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear on a traffic warrant. Bail: $215.

— A 61-year-old woman was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South Carson Street and Highway 50. She faces a misdemeanor warrant charge of failure to appear in court on a traffic violation. Bail: $212.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
