A 75-year-old San Bernardino County, Calif., woman has been identified as the victim in the single vehicle crash that happened Wednesday morning on Highway 50 near Glenbrook in Douglas County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Darlene M. Hall of Skyforest, died in the crash approximately a half-mile west of Logan Creek Drive at Lake Tahoe, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.
On Wednesday at approximately 8:35 a.m., NHP troopers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident. The crash investigation details indicate a Gray 2009 GMC Yukon driven by Hall of Skyforest and two pet dogs was traveling westbound on Highway 50 when for unknown reasons Hall allowed the vehicle to drive off the north paved shoulder and down a dirt slope, said Gibson.
The vehicle that Hall was driving traveled a short distance and then struck several large rock/boulders head on. The vehicle came to rest upright on its wheels, according to NHP.
When NHP Troopers arrived on scene they found Mrs. Hall deceased in the vehicle. Mrs. Hall was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. One of the dogs died on scene as a result of the collision and the other dog was taken to a local veterinarian with serious injuries.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a factor in the cause of the incident. The westbound lanes of US50 was shut down for a short period of time until the Nevada Department of Transportation arrived on scene to conduct traffic control while the crash scene was diagramed and investigated, then traffic was allowed to move by the scene. This area of US50 is two lanes in each direction and the speed limit is 45 mph.
Trooper Chris Austin of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Carson City sub-station is investigating this incident.
