— A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 3:58 p.m. in the area of Koontz and South Edmonds on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain a lane of traffic following an accident.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a crash at the intersection of Koontz and South Edmonds. An officer made contact with the at-fault driver who appeared under the influence. She had red, watery and bloodshot eyes, her speech was slurred and her motor skills were slow methodically and shaky. The officer smelled an odor of alcohol coming from her breath as she spoke.
The suspect exited the vehicle and was forced to lean against her vehicle to keep from falling down. The deputy began standardized field sobriety tests but stopped them due to the woman’s level of intoxication. The deputy attempted to get a preliminary breath test sample but the woman was too intoxicated to blow through the straw, the arrest report states. She was taken to jail and a blood sample was taken for evidence. Bail: $1,249.
