Carson City sheriff’s log: Deputies make three domestic battery arrests since Wednesday

A 48-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Friday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after she allegedly hit her boyfriend and then punched a door, breaking it off its hinges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence in the 1500 block of East Long Street for a domestic battery. Officers made contact with the victim who had injuries to his face. He advised he and his girlfriend got into an argument in which she hit him in the face. As he was trying to calm her down, the victim stated the woman punched the door and broke it off its hinges.

Deputies made contact with the woman who was uncooperative and was undressed. A female deputy assisted in getting the woman to put her clothes on. The suspect had a very strong odor of alcohol and had a cut on her right finger consistent with hitting the door. Due to her behavior and injuries on the victim she was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Bail: $3,137.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6 p.m. in the area of Harbin and Second Street on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 200 block of South Harbin Street regarding a domestic battery and that those involved were running.

A sheriff’s sergeant and deputy located the suspect and spoke with him. He stated that there had not been an argument and that he was attempting to leave his son’s home and was taking his girlfriend with him.

Officers interviewed the victim, who stated she was attempting to leave and the suspect did not want her to go. She stated he opened the hood of her car to disable it. She stated that she attempted to close the hood and that is when the suspect slammed the hood of the vehicle down on her face, the pushed her several times. Deputies observed a large swollen welt on the left side of the woman’s face. Witnesses confirmed what the victim told the officers. The suspect was arrested. Bail: $3,137.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 12:40 p.m. in the 3400 block of Airport Road on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, the victim told officers that she and the suspect began to argue and that she was kicked while holding her baby. She said the man had kicked her right foot on the outside. Deputies observed a small bruise on the right side of her foot. The baby was not injured. The man denied battering the woman. Deputies determined the man was the primary aggressor and he was arrested. Bail: $3,137.

— Two were arrested Wednesday by Carson City sheriff’s officers on felony charges following a “high risk traffic stop” in the area of Lompa and Fairview streets.

Michael Bird of Carson City and Johnny Escobar of Dayton were arrested at 9:23 a.m. Bird was booked on a felony warrant and is being held without bail. He was also charged with possession of marijuana. Escobar was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a sheriff’s sergeant conducted a “high risk” traffic stop on a vehicle in which the suspect, Bird, had a “no bail” warrant attached to the vehicle.

During the search of Bird, deputies found a small amount of marijuana. When Escobar was searched, deputies found two syringes, a metal spoon with heroin residue and a small amount of methamphetamine, according to the arrest report. Escobar’s bail was set at $3,637.

— A 24-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday, 1:54 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of his second DUI and driving without a valid driver’s license, both misdemeanors.

According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle driving without its headlights on. The suspect placed a piece of gum in his mouth as the officer approached and told the deputy that he was driving back home from a motel where his friend lives.

The man dropped his insurance and registration papers multiples times as he was talking to the officer, the report states. The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man’s breath. The suspect admitted he had consumed two beers. Dispatch confirmed his license had expired Jan. 29, 2016. The man was asked if he would voluntarily conduct standardized field sobriety test. The man agreed and did not complete the test with satisfactory results, the report states. At jail he submitted evidentiary breath tests of .106 and .099. A criminal history check showed the man had a prior DUI conviction in November 2011. Bail: $2,692.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Carriage Crest Drive on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and a failure to appear bench warrant issued in January out of Carson City Justice Court.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to an elementary school in the area for a noise complaint and four people yelling in a parking lot.

Deputies arrived and made contact with the suspect. Dispatch confirmed he had a warrant and was placed under arrest. Officers found a pill bottle with marijuana and a marijuana pipe in his right front pocket. A marijuana pipe was also found in a backpack. Bail: $2,874.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 1:30 p.m. in the area of Arrowhead and I-580 on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued Jan. 14, 2016 out of Humboldt Justice Court. Bail: $315.
