An alcohol compliance check in the capital city on Monday led to seven businesses that failed to comply with the law concerning sales, the Carson City Sheriff's Office is reporting.
Those businesses were: Ormsby Club Bar at 600 S. Curry St., Dotty's Casino at 3771 South Carson St., Chevron at 1102 North Carson Street, Rand Convenience Story at 1800 Highway 50 East, AM/PM Arco at 4190 South Carson St., and Casino Fandango at 3800 South Carson St., and Bodines at 5650 South Carson St.
The team consisted of two deputies and one underage decoy, according to a sheriff's office press statement. The decoy was sent into the business using their actual identification. The decoy then attempted to purchase alcohol from an employee.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office routinely conducts the check with grant money received from the Nevada Juvenile Programs Justice Office. With the assistance from the program the sheriff's office offers server training education sessions to local businesses to prevent the underage sale of alcohol. All local businesses are encouraged to join the program and send their employees to these training sessions. Call (775) 882-6674 for more information.
The result of an employee selling alcohol to a minor is a citation with a fine of $632 and a requirement that they attend server training. For the business it is a $100 fine on the first violation. A second violation carries a fine of $500 and a third violation is $1,500 with the business owner having to appear before the Carson City Liquor Board which has the authority to pull licenses.
