Carson City patrol officers who stopped a Suburban for speeding on Monday morning found drugs and burglary tools inside the vehicle set to be impounded.
Two men were arrested and face multiple charges. The arrests were made at 7:24 a.m. in the 1000 block of Fairview. Alex Matthew Silva, 26, of Dayton faces felony drug possession charges and misdemeanor possession of burglary tools. The other is a 28-year-old Sparks man who faces misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges.
According to the arrest report officers stopped the Suburban traveling east on Fairview doing 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. Officers met with the driver of the truck, the 28-year-old Sparks man, who told officers he had no proof of insurance or registration on the vehicle, stating it belonged to his brother who had brought it from someone else, the arrest report states. The man also informed officers that he was an ex-felon for vehicle burglary.
The Sparks man was issued a citation for speeding, no proof of insurance and no registration. The man signed the citation and was informed the vehicle was to be impounded for no proof of insurance.
The Sparks man and passenger Silva were released from the scene. Officers asked the men if they wanted any property from the vehicle. Silva stated he did not want anything from the vehicle and the Sparks man retrieved some small property from the front seat area and began to walk away west on Fairview, the arrest report states.
A tow truck was called and inventory of the truck began. There was a black pack pack near the driver's seat. Inside were several small lock pick files, small extendable mirrors and pliers, and a small digital scale, the arrest report states.
In a camouflage pack on the back seat of the floor board was a hack saw and other lock pick items wrapped in a cloth around a police scanner. There were numerous baggies of marijuana individually packaged for sale with a digital scaled, the report states.
The men were found walking on Fairview, detained, and read their Miranda rights. The Sparks man said he did not want to talk. Silva stated nothing in the vehicle was his. Both were arrested.
The back pack, which had letters inside addressed to Silva, was where the baggies of marijuana, electronic scale and a baggie of numerous pills identified as cyclobenzaprine, a prescription muscle relaxer, were found.
The Sparks man was booked for gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, basic speed, no proof of insurance and no proof of registration with the earlier citation voided. The man also had a gas credit card and a health insurance card belonging to victims of a residential burglary, the report states. Bail: $3,441.
Silva faces felony charges of possession of controlled substances for sales, possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $11,874.

— A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested June 4, 9:40 p.m. in the 3000 block of Surrey Lane and faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, the woman got into a fight with her mother at the residence regarding the care of two children.
The woman locked her mother out of their house after the mother said she wanted to take the children over to friends since the woman was leaving them without a babysitter, the arrest report states.
The mother found an unopened window and crawled inside and went to her own room. The daughter kicked down the door, got on top of her mother and began hitting her and pulling her hair, the arrest report states.
The woman admitted to officers that she had drank a pint of vodka after leaving the home. She confirmed she had a physical fight with her mother though she didn't know what it was about, and refused to answer any questions about the fight itself other than her mother scratched her face.
The mother told authorities it was possible she scratched her daughter's face when they were pulling each other's hair, the arrest report states.
Officers arrested the 26-year-old woman for domestic battery. While at the residence, officers observed a filthy house with dirty clothing and garbage and old pieces of food on the kitchen floor. Child Protective Services was contacted regarding the living conditions. Bail: $3,132.
A 21-year-old woman faces three misdemeanor charges including possession of a hypodermic needle and drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on a warrant June 4, 11:46 a.m. in the 900 block of Roop. The warrant was for violation of a suspended sentence, failure to report to probation.
During booking officers found a meth pipe, four hypodermic needles and a metal spoon used to cook meth. Bail: $5,274.
— A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 4, 4:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of Bunch Way and faces a charge of being in violation of a restraining order.
— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 3, 6 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth and Carson Streets for failure to appear on traffic violations. Bail: $1,278.
A Carson City man was arrested June 4, 12:11 a.m. in the 2000 block of Highway 50 East and faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. According to the arrest report officers were dispatched to a motel room where a couple was staying. The victim told police she was going to leave the room to get cake and milk and her boyfriend got mad at her.
She told police he grabbed her by the front door and she put up both arms to stop him. She told police her boyfriend took her right arm and threw her down on the floor, hitting her head on the tile. Officers observed a large bruise on the right side of her forehead.
The man said he threw the woman to the floor because he was protecting himself. Officers observed the man to be much bigger than the woman. Both admitted to drinking that night. The man admitted to the domestic battery and was taken to jail. Bail: $3,137.
— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 3, 10:43 p.m. at Stewart and Telegraph and faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and driving without headlights.
Officers stopped the vehicle and noticed the man had red eyes and slurred speech. He consented to a field sobriety test in which he failed the eye test, the walk and turn and the one legged stand, the arrest report states.
He was taken to jail where he entered breath alcohol tests of .145 and .142. Bail: $1,249.
— A Carson City man already in jail faces a felony burglary charge. Daniel Bruce Magner had a confirmed warrant for burglary. The warrant was confirmed on June 3. Bail: $20,000.
— A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 3, 9:40 p.m. in the 600 block of Carrie Drive on a misdemeanor warrant for battery issued May 31, 2013.
— A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 3, 4:13 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street. He faces misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended registration and failure to appear on a traffic warrant.
— A 26-year-old Carson City man turned himself into the Carson City Sheriff's Office June 3, 10:56 a.m. on a warrant, misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence. The warrant was issued for failure to pay fines and restitution, attended VIP and DUI school and obtain a substance abuse evaluation. Bail: $1,000.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
