A 28-year-old Carson City man faces a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer, and a misdemeanor resisting charge after he allegedly elbowed an officer in the head on Sunday morning outside of a bar.
Carlos Edwards Lopez was taken into custody following the alleged assault. His bail has been set at $4,612. Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of North Carson Street at about 2 a.m. after there was a report of a fight in progress, according to the arrest report.
Deputies met with the patrons of the bar and several pointed out three men involved in the fight, the arrest report stated. Each of the men were either on cell phones or had their hands in their pockets when the officer began to question them. When a deputy instructed the men to put their phones down and take their hands out of their pockets, they didn't, the report stated.
Dispatch advised the officer that Lopez had alternative sentencing conditions, and therefore he faces an additional charge of suspended sentence violation. The man was booked into jail and a blood alcohol test was administered in which he had a 0.154, according to the report.
