A 75-year-old Florida woman died in a rollover vehicle accident Wednesday on Highway 50 east of Fallon in Churchill County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Mary Madsen of Mount Dora, Fla., died in the single vehicle accident reported at 10:15 a.m. near mile marker 63. Her husband and driver of the vehicle, Leslie Madsen, 77, received non-life threatening injuries in the accident, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.
The crash investigation details learned so far indicate a 2005 light green Buick SUV driven by Leslie Madsen was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 when, for unknown reasons, Mr. Madsen lost control of the vehicle. The Buick went off the roadway where it overturned. Mrs. Madsen sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident, said Gibson.
Mr. Madsen received non-life threatening injuries to his left arm and head. He was transported from the scene to Renown Regional Medical Center via Care Flight. Mr. Madsen is fully cooperating with law enforcement officials on the accident investigation, said Gibson. Alcohol or controlled substances does not appear to be an issued related to the accident.
