Four individuals and three Carson City businesses were cited this week during an underage alcohol "shoulder tap" operation through the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
The Monday operation is where individuals were asked by an underage "decoy" to purchase alcohol for him or her. The decoy informed those asked that they were underage and could not purchase the alcohol. The decoy was assisted by two Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies who oversaw the operation, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
Four subjects were approached during this operation of which two purchased alcohol for the decoys. These individuals were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors. Also during this time, alcohol compliance checks were done at local establishments that sell alcoholic beverages.
Of the 34 establishments checked, three failed to be in compliance. The servers at these establishments were issued a citation for providing alcohol to a minor. The Carson City businesses were:
Eagle Valley Market, 933 Woodside Drive; Country Store, 3389 Highway 50 East and 7-Eleven, 3838 Highway 50 East.
The Sheriff’s Office routinely conducts these checks with grant money received from the Nevada Juvenile Programs Justice Office.
