A Gardnerville man was jailed Tuesday after a shotgun round went through the wall of a duplex, causing injury to two people in an adjacent unit, a Douglas County Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
Tyson Degenhart, 39, was booked for unlawful discharge of a firearm. The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Kimmerling Road, said Sgt. Pat Brooks.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies and East Fork Fire and Paramedics responded to a reported shots fired call where someone had been shot. Investigators learned Degenhart and another person had been drinking alcohol. Degenhart was handed a shotgun by the person when Degenhart then allegedly pointed it toward the wall and pulled the trigger, said Brooks.
The shotgun was loaded and he discharged the round through the wall and into the adjacent residential unit on the other side of the wall, said Brooks. The shotgun round struck two victims who were sitting on the other side of the wall. The two victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Carson Valley Medical Center for treatment and were later released.
Degenhart was arrested and taken to Douglas County Jail where he was booked for unlawful discharge of a firearm. His bail has been set at $25,000.
